Hello,
I'm new to this forum, been stalking in the dark for the last couple of weeks.
I want to purchase a 660 and finally found one "near by" with a reasonable price (Have to decide quickly).
Had a few questions, is it hard to find parts? Is there an easy way to tell if the saw is a 660?
The serial number on the saw, provided by the seller starts with 1528, in other posts, if in fact this is the serial number.. doesn't match up.

Thank you for any help

To be honest; have 17 trees in my backyard want to cut at least 10 and turn them into firewood. A good friend of mine has a cottage and often needs help doing the same.
(Also plan to buy a little piece of land in the next few years and build a small cottage)

Saw looks legit to me. The 660 is a really big saw to cut trees around the house and occasionally firewood saw. You will need a smaller trim saw in addition to the 660 for your needs.

What sized trees will you be cutting down? What’s the price on the 660?

Asking $800 (I'm in Canada) saw new goes for over $1500.
Thanks for the confirmation, I'll send him a message.

I have an ms170 this is where my need to have a larger Stihl comes from, lol

Trees vary in size, I'd say on average over 20" in diameter.

Thanks for the help all

If it checks out and runs and cuts right it sounds like a pretty good deal. I paid $650 USD for my 660 and I’m really happy with it. For 20” woods it’s more than you need, but might not find a 460/461 for the price. If it checks out I’d g for it.

Looks legit Rapt.

A bit big for 20” trees, but it will do the job. As long as you don’t mind the weight.

I got by for nearly 15 years with an echo 330T and a 660 Only.

Looks clean. I’d say the price is fair, but not great. Make sure you check piston though the exhaust port. Even scored saws can have decent compression.

Thanks for the information, we are supposed to meet this week. Any other suggestions?

Now, do you really need a saw around the house that is used to cut this? I fear I have to agree with ChoppyChoppy.
I get it it's used on much larger trees, my thought is in a couple of years when I get my plot I may need something bigger and why rush out to buy it when the pricing on this saw is fair.
For example for a 038 magnum people are asking $550 for a 026 $400 ect..

I have never heard of an 026 actually selling for $400. Two years ago I sold an MS 660 in really good condition for $600. I guess times have changed. Gasp!

Here's another Pic of MS 660 output:
