I'm about to replace the oil pump on a stihl 039 (Garage sale find) and the stihl repair manual says you should use an assembly sleeve and a press sleeve.
Are these really required to install the pump?

Answer is no. Those are for installing the oil seals, not the pump. The pump is easy, nuttin to it. The only special tool you will need is a 2.00 piston stop. If you need help beyond what the repair manual says, just holler.....

Thanks. I thought the same, but wanted to double check and make sure I wasn't missing something.
