Anyone have experience with municipal street tree surrounds like the porous flexible material or wane 3000? I can't really find anything about the wane, but it looks like it might actually help with sidewalk root lifting. Any advice is appreciated.

I've had a bit to do with a few tree projects that used tree root cell installations like Stratacell http://citygreen.com/products/stratacell/

such as this one http://citygreen.com/case-studies/frankston-creates-safer-walking-lanes/

and use various flexi porus surface treatments for tree pits area in high pedestrian streets, they all work ok at 1st year or so but then suffer from dust silting and become clogged and that with limited life spans means the surface will need replacement predicted after 3 to 5 years

this is pretty good article to summarized the many version

Tree Pits

There is a lot of opinion over the best spec for a porous tree pit paving specification. We have been installing tree pits for nearly 20 years and worked with a lot of engineers, architects, landscapers, and arborists. There is no single specification or product mix that solves all scenarios, so we try to work on a job by job basis. Here is a summary of some of the most common considerations:

In my opinion very expensive, not 100% proven, limited life span but aspirational are many of these products
