I don't think you made it up. There's been no purchase so there's nothing to take pictures of yet.

Pictures at this point would bring the vultures in for sure.

Good luck.

Score

Yeah theres are some nice finds there. Even if you got the stuff and stored it for a while. Just go thru and take a few at a time see what you have. Get some runners together from all the part saws you have. Sell the parts you dont want. Id do that. then I'd Inventory and organize all the parts too. Dont have to do it all at once. Thats a fun project for whoever gets it.

Umm I hope better prepared included, in addition to the camera, a stack of cash and a pick up or two...

I picked out about 1K worth of misc parts in those piles.

Quite tempting I would say. Beyond the cash -- do you have the space to bring that all home, clean it, photo it, list it, pack and ship?

There is a fair amount of work going through all that stuff to figure out what it is -- at least it would be for me. If it were me I would spend an hour or so rummaging through and pick out maybe a half dozen saws with decent potential (or true marketability) and settle on a price with the guy. Leave the rest for the ebay liquidators. This way you are out less cash, get the pick of the litter, and do not have to deal with all of the hassle (in my mind) of trying to catalog and sell.

Again if it were me.

Heck, I paid $500 just for 10 Stihl saws last week, but they were complete with bars, and about half of them have good compression. I got some 025's 039, 028, TS400, 031, 041 etc.

I see some 045/056 carcasses, and quite a few 031/032 saws and parts saws...

I see at least two 026s and two 038s, besides the 660, the 066, and the 064 carcasses.

If you parted all that out on e-bay, there's easily $2500 worth of stuff there after listing fees and materials.

thanks Dr. J !

not everything is in the pictures.
there was an 026 in a file cabinet drawer, of all places, that seemed to be apart but complete and needing only a piston. (score!)
the running makita 510 is also present.
there was an 048 (?) in pieces in a box.
also, there are about a hundred used muflers laying in a heap in the corner.

the red saw at 5 o'clock in pic 2 and again in center pic 4 said 520 on the label. is that the one you refered to or the one at 12 o'clock in pic 7?
amy ideas on the solo in low center, pic 1?

Third picture down on the right there's two 042/048 carcasess, and on the left side second shelf is an 041. I wonder if that Poulan on the top shelf in the first picture is a 4400?

Sixth picture down is mostly 045/056 carcasses. The rear handle/loop handle/platform thing is for a TS-360. There's an 031 carcass on the right. I'm seeing a lot of 038 parts, top handle Poulans and Homelites...

The Solo is a 654. It's the old-style red top version which is desirable. The newer black top ones are a consumer model whereas the red top versions were marketed more as a pro model. Yeah the 520 is what I was referring to.

Besides the 026 not pictured, there's at least two more 026 carcasses as well as an extra good gas tank/rear handle assembly. I see several extra gas tank assemblies for 038 and 028. I see one 028 carcass as well.

Sounds like to me it's one of those deals where you have to take it all. In this case, for $500, it's well worth it.

These pictures look almost exactly like what the back of the logging company Stihl dealership looked like when I went to work there in 2001. The instructions I received were: "fix these".
