Things are a little slow here so.

I'm going to build a small building about 12'X20' for my saw stuff.
would like to mill every thing I can. I was thinking about using
small dia. 5" to 6" post oak for floor joist and studs, milling two
sides of each log, so I end up with 3 1/2 inch thick joist and studs.
I know for the studs 24" OC will work, but what about the joist.
the joist would be running the 12' way on top of 4-4X6X20' CCA as skids,
then I can move it, if needed

In my neck of the woods that would be considered a large shop!:D Maybe even a barn. A real estate ad would say "Bring the horses."

Please post pics of the process! I would like to build a tiny building. Maybe 12'X16'.

This would be a spring project. And I'm like a goose I wake-up
in a new world every DAY! :D

And if 12X20 is a barn, would a 12X16 be a house?:D

Well, I am speaking of outbuildings. A 12X16 would be considered a HUGE shed at least. Some might call it a large shop. My dad would call it a lawnmower shack. His carport is 20X36.

I left out, What about using them, Green

Things will shrink, but you know that.

I found I could nail into green White Ash better than I could nail into it dry. I built my sons playhouse while the wood was pretty much green. The White Oak on the floor shrinked the most noticeably.

Thanks Casey, For that reason I will use 3/4 ply wood on the floor

Until you have one, Then a 45X60 would be about right. ;)

Well, if your going to go 45X60, might as well round it off to 48X60 to make the dimensions work easier. Your going to be buying the same amount of materials anyway.

Went out took a few pictures of the snow and ice, we got last night.

I will delete the pics in a day or two

Trigger I love that pic of the leaf with the ice hanging from it. If you d/l and blow it up, you can see the ice crystals barely formed on the drop of water. That one is a keeper. Thanks
