to trim the piston skirt?

I recently found a very good used piston and cylinder for my 272. Before putting it back together, I was wondering if it might be beneficial to take a little off the piston skirt? I recall a thread here showing the modification as part of an overall port polish etc. Any comments greatly appreciated... woojr

trimming the skirt is a method i have abandoned. does have its benefits but also has its downsides. i consider it more a quick and dirty method.
