Tree fell and foundation is cracked

If you've got one engineer saying it was not the tree that made the crack you will not make any headway claiming it did without getting your own PE to give a differing opinion. Problem is you may pay for your own professional opinion and it may match the first one. PE's are not cheap, as you can imagine. Not sure what they would charge in your area but around here you would be looking at $800 to $1600. However, if you really believe this was not there before and that the tree did it, you have no alternative but to get your own opinion. It's as simple as that I think. Based on the photos that crack does not appear to be a major structural problem. I would be more concerned with a horizontal crack due to hydrostatic pressure pushing on the wall over time. It might be cheaper to excavate, seal the crack and re tar the exterior to keep out moisture than to hire an engineer to get an opinion that may not help you anyways.
