I jsut got my 044 today, I saw somewhere something about twin port exhuast and some bigger tree daugs I dont remember exactly what either of them were called, has anyone heard of either?

You're thinking of the "dual port" exhaust, and the larger dogs some of us put on the saw.

The dual port muffler is just a replacement for the solid, blank front cover. The dual port just has a factory hole in it, allowing more airflow. The Stihl P/N is 1128 140 0801. You can get if from a Stihl dealer for about $30. Most consider it standard equipment on the 044. It's the plate on the front of the muffler with the screen. Here's a pic-

The larger dogs are mostly for falling larger timber, though they've certainly got applications in firewood as well. I've got large dogs on all of my saws, by default. The factory Stihl dog is the silver one, there for reference. Here's a pic-

thanks for the welcoming, yea my saw doesnt have that exhuast on it, it does have after market daugs I jsut figured out, I also noticed one is alil bigger than the other.

If you go to the dealer, don't let him sell you the whole muffler. All you need is the front cover. It's a direct bolt on. Should you do that, you'll need to richen up the carb a bit. Try a search for "muffler mod" and you'll get a whole boat load of reading on the subject. It's all pretty simple-more air, more power, need more gas/oil.
