Yea!! I knew it! Anyone who builds a cage for an orphaned squirrel is a good guy in my book.
I'm almost a vegetarian. It's a hard habit to break. :( Also, I'm not convinced a diet without any red meat is completely healthy. Obviously you are. How do you get enough protein in your diet?
when it comes down to it, if eating a balanced diet, and not just pasta and bread, it is hard to not get enough protein. If all else fails, toss in some Beefeaters gin - there must be protein in that, right? It's in the name, isn't it? I do eat eggs, but have cut out any liquid dairy products. I have yet to find an affordable vegan-cheese pizza. Pizza just isn't pizza, without a decent mozzarella on it.

I don't hunt just to kill, I hunt for food, No difference in hunting than buying meat in a market. My way is a lot more humane. I'm not a city boy, us country hillbillys have to eat.

Yeah, yeah, I know all about that and "thinning the heard" and all that other rationale for hunting. Still, makes me sad.

Stay away from white bread and white sugar and soda! Eat an alkaline diet .
well, except for the alkaline diet - it seems my father's prostate cancer was "hurried along" while on the Atkins (a rather very alkaline) diet. I have cut out the white breads and sugars for over 2 years now, and if I have had 20 ounces of soda over the last 4 years, I would be rather very shocked.

I do, very little though. I'm trying to eliminate it altogether... but it's not easy...
Slaughter houses are very inhumane. Our deer here are suffering from Chronic Wasting Disease and are dying. The game biologist say we need to slaughter them to kill out the diseased herd. I have hunted in areas where no hunting was allowed and the deer multiplied too fast and died of starvation. I don't have any heads on my walls, but I do cut the horns off and hang them on my barn wall.

Thank you, BL, for taking the time to read some of the earlier posts... and for apologizing.
It wasn't so much what you said that hurt me, because everyone is entitled to their opinion, it was just that that post was so different from others I had read from you.
I felt betrayed. I've felt really bad since I read that. Dr. Pee, on the other hand is, has been, and always will be a jerk. No surprises there. Anyway, I appreciate you making the effort to "make up." I accept, and want to apologize for calling you a sexist pig. I accept, and want to apologize for calling you a sexist pig. Let's just forget about it and move on, okay?
