VP GEARS UP TO LAUNCH OUTDOOR POWER LUBE LINE

With a new business year comes new product launches for the Small Engine Fuel line. VP put in 4 years of R&D to identify problems with lubricant packages currently offered to the outdoor power equipment industry. This consisted of more than 300 full engine tests using a 25-hour detergency & wear test format.

What VP found was that many modern oil products targeted at outdoor power caused ring sticking and carbon build-up. In addition, these products proved to be tough to mix in their correct ratios and even when mixed properly, they lacked the viscosity and film strength to offer adequate protection to vital components.

The end result was the best in class new VP-SEF products available to VP Dealers and Distributors for the new year:
  • VP-SEF Full Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil
    • Metal deactivators added to protect from corrosive properties of Ethanol
    • Advanced fuel stabilizer keeps fuel fresh for up to 12 months
    • A multi-mix formula that accommodates both 40 & 50:1 ratios
    • Works well in all air-cooled 2 cycle engines
    • Best in class CRC test rating of 8.85
    • Meets or exceeds API TC, JASO FD, ISO-L-EGD
  • VP-SEF Premium SAE 30W Small Engine Oil
    • Extended protection vs. automotive oils
    • 100% shear-stable formula for hot, air-cooled applications
    • Exceeds requirements for all 4-cycle outdoor power equipment engines
    • Meets or exceeds API SJ

Klotz R50
Motul 800 off road
Isn't the R50 a castor base oil ? Motul is synthetic, is mixing a problem I was always led to understand bean seed & mineral base were not compatible to mixing. As an aside Motul 710 & 800 is the same oil except the 800 has an additive to keep power valves free, as saws don't have power valves, we use 710 in commercial logging use, as here ( In France it is cheaper than 800)

Been running the Motul 800 at 32:1... retuned the saw, and it runs real well... idles smoother and seems to be a little more powerful. It seems to mix well. Smokes a little when it's cold, but once the engine is warmed up, there is no smoke. Has a very faint odor... smells good too.

I would not be surprised if VP's oil is good as well. Might be more expensive though, or at least until it gets a bigger foothold in the market.

Is the cost of Motul 800 the same as 710 ?in the US, the reason I ask is we buy 710 in 25 litre drums & the Motul rep advised us that 710 & 800 are aprox 97% the same the 800 has a small amount of additive to keep power valves on 2smoke race bikes clean & free as saws don't have power valves & we can buy the 710 aprox 8/10% cheaper we use 710 Don't suppose it's available in the US but the best oil for clean, carbon free, & low wear rate, we have ever used is Yacco MVX 2T but when the oil prices were high the price went silly & didn't come down when the oil price dropped, so we changed to Motul. Ipone oil was/is excellent but the pricing went north the same as Yacco. as an aside our fuel oil ratio works out at 38 to 1

710 is a few bucks cheaper than 800 over here.
