Working on some of my "logging" equipment in the school shop I found quite a few guys burn wood and we had a great time sharing tips and tricks. I offered to help them on their stuff and we have built quite a comradere.

It got me to thinking... What do you call yourself as a person who chases and burns firewood?

Are we "woodies" "wooders" etc?

What do you call it when you are going after firewood or processing it?

Are you "wooding" "cuttin" etc?

This stuff just comes to me while I cut... Great philosophical questions and pondering and such in search of being as one with the wood. (oooohhhhhmmmmmm) Monk chant)

That depends on the company your with. Might be cheap, green, independent, self sufficient. Getten the wood I call it re stalking.

An addict, my wife would add a few words that are not suitable for the forum.

Sport cutter, sport splitter. I go out firewoodin and engage in those two sports. An excuse to go out in the woods. I dont hunt anymore, so this is it. Check out nature, I look at all the woods details, as much as possible, get a small gearhead fix, let the dogs run around (not when I am felling though). Sorta accidently accumulate nice stacks. I know I have taken trees that would have been nice sawlogs, which would have been logging or being a logger (kinda sorta) but no way to move them, so they turn into firewood.

At some point I would like to do some logging, and some in the tree work.

Inspired by the TV commercial where a couple of woodchucks are throwing a guys firewood into a pond and he says "Stop chuckin' my wood". a friend that I work with a lot started calling whatever we were doing with wood "Chuckin' wood"

So we are "Wood Chuckers"

"Oakster", "The Great Scrounginski", "The Root." "Splitmiester" "Stumpoff" "Professor of Pyrolysis." "The Branch Manager".

....(the Department of Logistics)

Looks like you've put some thought into this!!!

P.O.P. I like that one!

Since almost everything that I do involves chainsaws-carvings, milling lumber, log furniture, firewood stocking, repairing/porting saws (you gotta test em out)-I have been dubbed the Chainsawmaniac around my local area.
