The backwards cutter is so you can cut with the top of the bar...didn't you know that?

looks to me bottom one is 3/8th pitch and the top one is 325 pitch

Actually, I hate to admit this, but I have did this a few times when splicing chain. I did realize my mistake right after I spun the rivets. The first one I did became the main ingredient of a practical joke with the new guy on the crew. He took the joke well.:msp_biggrin:

^^ I have a couple oregon chains like that for a Craftsman 18" saw. Couple others are missing a single tooth. I've always figured it was just how the chain spool ended and the next one began.
