Hey, you guys should know by now that Minnesota is a segregated state with some pretty clear boundaries that have only blurred slightly in nearly 150years.

Dang, can't find my map. Anyway, you follow the highways, but the Cities are an exception to the rule because you have those Ukranians and stuff that you don't find out in the wild.

So, if you live south of I-94 you are probably of German descent. North of 94 but west of 71, you are probably Norwegian or Swede. East of 71 you are probably Swede or Finn.

I grew up 40 miles NE of Moorhead, MSUM alum.

Mark

WOW!!!!

Small world!

I grew up straight east of Moorhead (Hawley area) and went to MSUM (and every other college in this town!).

I don't live in MN but I am less than 3 miles from it and spend virtually every weekend in the MN lakes country around Detroit Lakes (the "North").

"The Great Socialist Republic of Minnesota"....

Even though I lived in MN, I went to the University of North Dakota(fighting Soo). Yes, I changed the name---I think this one will get past the whole "nickname" thing---we could use a train engine as a mascot and do the "locomotion" for our cheer.

My brother went to MSUM, but I still think he turned out ok, in spite of it.:biggrinbounce2:

I go to an ATV race north of Karlstad every year in late Sept.

The CFO of the company I work for is from Karlstad too!

The whole "nickname" thing for UND has REALLY gotten out of hand...:dizzy:

I'm originally from chisholm.....so I know all about side lake. There isn't a better place in the world for wings than bimbos ;).

Originally from Frazee, about 30 minutes away from Detroit Lakes, or an hour East from Fargo.

Born in Minneapolis, grew up in Des Moines, moved to Zimmerman, graduated from Elk River High and Anoka Tech, moved to Wisconsin and now I'm in Luck!

How have I missed this thread for so long.............

I am south of Austin ( ya, ya home of Spam)
I'm glad to see there are a few from my neck of the woods on here.....I was starting to think everyone on here from Minnesota lived on the Iron Range....

Just cause the Range is so much better than the rest of the state and we actually know how to pronounce Sauna (sowna) unlike the city folk who like to jazz it up and make it (sawna) :lifter:

lol :clap::clap: damm cidiots eh!

A Yooper can truly understand a Ranger, Most would say we sound alike and speak the same language even (which is different than anyone else in this country). People in other states can tell within 3 words where we're from and whether we are scandanavian or italian, Both of which are seem to outnumber the other nationalities in my neck of the woods.

i do! Wadena thats 1/2 way between Detroit lakes and Brainard for those who dont know where it is.

Born, graduated college from the minnesota tech, and now staring my own family in this little town where everyone knows eveyone.
