Who uses an Electric Roaster

My grandmother used to use an Electric Roaster for everything from slow cooking to baking and roasting. It was her 2nd oven in some cases. The other day I saw one in a second hand store for $20 and am telling myself that I don't really need it.
For those familiar, what are your Pro/Con

They do well to heat up bearings to slide on crank cases....a nice motor oil bath will suffice as a "bath"...
As always be careful not to exceed *350 and make sure you have proper fire prevention equipment nearby.
