The term "wood ported" is new to me. Will someone please explain what it is and if there's a difference between wood ported and ported.
To me, ported means porting the muffler. But I have an idea that wood ported deals with the engine directly.
Thanks in advance for any enlightenment you folks can offer. Jim S.

I've heard that before and assumed it meant ported for work or use in the woods as opposed to ported for racing, thinking the latter would be a bit more aggressive?

Post the question on the chainsaw forum and I'll bet you'll get an answer.

Perhaps a moderator will move this thread over there, then the experts will be able to laugh at my guess too?

Wood Ported

THanks for your reply, Randy. I did some further investigation and the term woods ported means, as far as I can ascertain, that the exhaust port is enlarged and smoothed for freer breathing. Also, I think the intake may be enlarged in some cases. When this porting is done, it usually requires adjusting the carburation as well. Jakenhyde
