On my saw the clearance between the release and the head is tiny. Where do I find a socket with half the normal wall thickness? What size is it?

How about a 1/4 drive Snap On socket?
Doesn't a saw scrench fit in there??? 13mm hex aint it LW?
It certainly does on my 241, a 1/4 deep socket does also.

Agree that the size is 13mm or 1/2", however the wall thickness of a standard deep socket is to thick. It hits the fins on the cyl head.
Where do I find a 13mm deep socket with a thin wall. Looking at my Stihl provided spark plug wrench, even the small end is too large.

matco 1/4 drive 13mm works as well, any hardware store worth a can of beans will have a couple skrenches on the shelf, walk in with the saw.

1/4" drive, deepwell, 13mm Duralast socket from Autozone works for me.
Grind a socket down on your grinder might as well grind a 5/16s one too you need it to remove needle seats in carbs.
