I was cause some crap on the other thread,

Regardless of what I know I was questioned on some things that blew me away. Under cutting limbs is not dangerous if done right, and is the only way to keep a tree (SOMETIMES) from rolling,

I really think that some people on here don't think about some things and weigh them out. The under cuts are an excellent thing and are only cut an inch or two in a 20 inch limb, and they ARE NOT DONE OR DONE MORE SHALLOW ON A WILLOW OR POPLAR BECAUSE OF THE HIGH CHANCE OF INSTANT SNAP. But what do I know.

Speaking of wood, it still amazes me how my father nows how every type of wood will react, this I see alot in cut and leave jobs that have to be climbed but are not needing of much or any roping. Just bombing. I watch him taking the side off a tree and there is lots of wood and brush. He cuts piece after peice and every one land flat for less grass damadge.

He gets the rotation right to where they will flip end for end in mid air but still land flat. Any questions?

O and nobody actually doubted undercutting works, did they? I missed that one.

Any questions?
Yeah, why'd you change your virtual handle? Do you work for General Motors, or are you Genetically Modified?:dizzy:

Yeah I'm the GM who's Got Modesty--a spoonful anyway--to go with my assertiveness. And IQ ranges from 50 on up, depending on the topic.:blob2:

i try to use the hinge as a disposable butt tie, to stay intact until hitchpoint on load is swung under, or not quite under it's support point /redirect to control leg. If hitchpoint goes out further than support point, and tearoff happens, the monster can come back for me, so i will have line tension force reduced till hitchpoint is under or between me and support, so that it pulls away from me as it detatches.

The C.o.B. must be beyond the hitchpoint or load could violently reverse from leading nose down before tearoff, to leading butt down after. When i am done with that always available butt tie, and package is deleivered safely with no/low shock to it's support, the saw dispenses with the butt tie.

The leveraged distance between the hinge and hitch becomes an automatic leveraged line tightener, as well as arc-hed reach to the support before tearoff, as well as a counterbalancing ballast to the heavy end after tearoff. Anything riding above the hitchpoint at tearoff is 'free' length as far as ground clearance goes.

i think that the perfect/best scenario for this would be a long pole with a big weight right on the end; so that tying off right before weight, makes wieght hang down. At this point, you can maximize auto leveraged tightening on the line as hinge moved, most arched space to deliver, and everything but the weight riding above the hitch after tearoff for greatest ground clearance.

Or something like that

An undercut is designed to cause the limb to snap off whether you want the limb to fall flat or roping it. However, if you facecut (box, pie, whatever you call it) a limb you can hinge it over or steer it.

What are you trying to say? I am having a hard time translating your language to English.

The jury is still out on this one.

LISTEN TIM, C A N y o u p u t t o g e t h e r t h a t a FLAT Tree i s safe tree!!!!!!!!!!!!

And less of a liability when some idiot cuts it up?? CAN YOU READ??????????????

A flat tree is a safe tree? Is that like "the only good indian is a dead indian"? Do you mean that? Or what?

When folks say you're hard to understand, just say it a different way. Don't shout with all caps, that's against the rules and your posts will be deleted if you keep that up.

Same with namecalling.

Allow me.
His Daddy was removing a tree. He undercut the limbs so when the tree was notched and dropped, the limbs folded, thereby leaving a tree which laid flat on the ground. This creates a safer environment in two ways, the tree won't roll unexpectedly, and the best Ground Man won't get crushed if he cuts a limb wrong.
I hope that helps.
