How to destroy a fence while felling a tree!

First of all I really enjoy a good fail video so thank you for that. Second After cutting down thousands of trees and spending hundreds of hours learning as much as I can form others I have a few ideas of what went wrong and what could have been done differently. I also know that no matter how...

    Worst mistake you've made?

Trimming a big old willow with a couple of 8 in dead crossing branches right over the clients house. Cut the lower branch first in small manageable pieces and everything was great till I hit the cross. Got half way through the last lower branch cut on the trunk side and the whole 10 ft upper...

    Stihl 201 t?

Im the kind of guy who finds the saw he loves and then ends up having an affair with another saw just to make sure i wasn't missing out. Here's my 2 cents; If you want a great value and a good saw get an echo, If you want a saw that builds power smoothly and has great torque go for the 201, and...

    Huskvarana T540

I am not a saw brand snob, I run them all and have found anything pro level is exactly that. My 540Xp has hundreds of hours on it at this point without the slightest issue. Its very powerful but also very snappy so its my go to saw for removals but not for making nice pruning cuts.

    Insurance

I go through Hub International and for full coverage I'm just under $800 a year. However between my trucks, inland marine and liability my insurance bill gets close to $5000 a year.

    Time to remove?

I ended up probing the crack for depth and it travels at least through 50% of the trunk. A local company thought cabling could by me a few years. My concern would be having a tree held together by cables and resulting in a much harder, more expensive removal down the road. Any thoughts on the...

    Time to remove?

I have a tree that partially hangs over my house that has developed a large crack in the trunk. It appears the decay is starting to travel up a few of the leaders as well. What do you guys think? Ideas? I would love to keep the tree as long as possible but if its time to remove its time. Thanks

    Husqvarna fuel tank repair?

I couldn't figure out why my saw was going through so much gas until I realized that when it was running the vibration was allowing the seam on the top front of my fuel tank to loose fuel. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have always used plastic weld on acrylic so would this be an...

    Best vintage Husqvarna?

I didn't specify what "vintage" was to me since it really depends on the person you ask, so I left it up to you guys. I picked up a 262xp and absolutely love the saw, enough that I have another one on the way. This whole chainsaw collecting thing gets very addicting really fast. So far it seems...

Best way to clean up a cylinder?

I tried to clean it up as good as I can. I can run my nail across the inside and it seems almost perfectly smooth. What do you guys think?

Best way to clean up a cylinder?

I was given a husqvarna 55 that had been straight gassed and has quite a bit of aluminum deposit on the cylinder walls. What is the best way to remove this deposit and keep from damaging the plating? Once cleaned up how can you tell if the cylinder is still good or needs to be replaced? Thanks...

Husqvarna 55 scored cylinder replace or repair?

So I posted a question regarding new top end kits and a few of you thought the cylinder might be salvageable so here are a few pictures. It does appear that it is mostly built up carbon and aluminum from the piston as it melted from no oil in the gas. Give me some advice and how to proceed...

    Husqvarna 55 new top end?

Working with the youth has been really rewarding and has become a passion of mine. My friend and I have tried to start a youth outdoor program that is a year long program that includes hunting, fishing, camping and pretty much anything else we can think up that involves the great outdoors. In...

    Husqvarna 55 new top end?

I really appreciate all the advice from everyone! The cylinder is in pretty bad shape unfortunately, so I really don't think its salvageable. I think ill just go with the meteor kit from one of the sponsors and be done with it. Other than the top end the saw is in really good shape. The lesson...

    Husqvarna 55 new top end?

So for my first post to this great site I would like some advice on aftermarket cylinders. A friend of mine runs a church youth group that we have been collecting chainsaws for. Our intention is to teach them how to fix small engines and then take them on a few over night trips to collect...
