Can I use this Ripping Chain?

need cheap, throw away saw I can put a 24" + bar on

If the cutting is really easy you might want to think about a good handsaw. You would of course have to get wet yourself, but saws like a silkybigboy might fit the bill. A pole saw might even fit the bill-- powered or not.

Variations in compression checkers affect readings

yep, preaty neat to see the difference between those two saws. Now too get an 009 and an 090 stihl and compare those two spreads. ;)

Variations in compression checkers affect readings

Good info, and I might be wrong but I think another thing to take into account when looking at compression readings is the altitude that the test is performed at. I believe it's a rule of thumb that for every 1000' in elevation atmospheric pressure decreases about 3%. if this is the case then...

    ported 441

There's another thread the discusses the 441 in great detali, here's one post in it that shows where you need to go to get the muffler off. You need to pry the little caps off the holes in front and at the bottom of the holes are two more attachments.

    Husqvarna vs Stihl

Heres a picture of the side. I could not get a clear picture of the side facing the flywheel but it has "STIHL" in one box and in another what looks like " I P I 2000" along with 'Made in Germany"

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

I know, I know, but I'm a patient sort that gives the benefit of a doubt more often than not. I like to think they are working on it and have my best interest in mind. I don't have to give them my business in the future, if they make it right, I will---- If they don't, I won't. Simple. I may...

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

$125 is what I got it for, shipped. I know it's a lot, but then again what does a good tachometer cost. either I'll keep it as a curiousity that can provide me with little tidbits about about saws or will donate it to a local dealer who will have a better use for it than I-- ahh no I'll let...

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

Thanks Spike, That's good news, I was under the impression that all I could do with the tool was view fuel setting, run time, number of starts, max rpm, failure codes, etc. Nice to know I can reset the fuel settings. It'll be a couple of days or probably next week before I get it in, I''ll...

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

From now on when buying a new saw I intend on going through one of this sites smaller sponsors. I had a gift certificate that influenced me to purchase this saw from who I got it from..

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

I do believe this is an isolated issue and that the vast majority of these saws won't have any problems. I am in communication with the company I bought it from and am waiting on an answer from them. Right now I am asking to return it. If that fails I have ordered the diagnostic tool and...

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

It's a lemon, a sour biscuit, a -- well some of those sourdough biscuits are right good, but pie, it's hard to go wrong with pie... and now to top it all off... I just found a flatworm on my dog's ____... I knew I shouldn't have let him eat all the mice, gophers, and voles he catches... now...

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

most likely an isolated problem. there are a few good videos out there where this saw seems like the cat's meow, a lot of good reviews from the few saws ppl have gotten their hands on, I don't by any means want to imply the 540 isn't or won't be a great saw, but, yeah, If I had a dealer...

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

This thread may die and the saw might end up in the scrap heap. Not much has changed. saw still runs the same even at a mile lower in elevation --around 4800' give or take (didn't bust out the topo map) I've contacted husqvarna "customer support" again and the nice lady took a little more...

    562xp Hesitation Question

Is there any chance I could get the information on how to order this tool. I'd love to have one and would even take it with me to the dealer and show them how to use it when I took my saw in to them. Heck I'd probably leave it there with them if they seemed to like it.

Problems with Huskvarna and it's new T540

it just seems to be excessive --like the air filter is stained a husky two stroke shade of blue. weird setup on this saw, there is the carb, and then off to the side is the open throttle open air intake.... I know I can't communicate well and just hope to not turn anyone off on this saw. I...
