Tensioner Screw on Poulan 2300 CVA

Thanks again. My suspicion is that the chain that was on it was the wrong chain, and by bringing that to the hardware store, I was given the wrong chain back!

Tensioner Screw on Poulan 2300 CVA

Thanks, I just checked the bar. It shows :44247 BV, 16 91. I saw on the site you are correct, S56. I just want to make sure there are no other factors I need to take into account so that the teeth match up with the gears, etc.

Tensioner Screw on Poulan 2300 CVA

Mornin, I FOUND a Poulan saw in an elderly neighbors garage and I got it running for him. I also went and got a new chain for it at the local hardware store. The guy counted the links on the old one which was shot and just about tight enough with the tensioner maxed out but not quite. He gave me...

Saw is getting harder to start over time

Update, the saw eventually wouldn't start at all so I got a rebuild kit and a new plug and fuel filter and even knew fuel line. Took carb apart, found a metal screen, very fine mesh, plugged up pretty good with what looked like wasabi sauce! Replaced that screen, the gaskets and the fuel...

Saw is getting harder to start over time

Hello all, I have a Jonsered saw. I bought it used. When I first got it, it started on like the 2nd or 3rd pull for quite some time. Now it takes from 7 to 9 pulls to get it to fire up. What causes a saw to get harder to start over time? Thanks!

    Vermont Castings Intrepid?

Great site, thanks! I just emailed the sales dept, but from looking at the site, they can cut me a piece. Major major hassle trying to go through a VC "dealer" forget about it. It's been two years, and still no glass. Thanks again.

    Old vs New wood stove

Maybe similar to a car EGA valve re-burning gasses? More heat?

    Old vs New wood stove

Trying to contribute here, love the site. My thoughts are that we need more details. I am unaware of any clear advantage to a new vs. old stove other than EPA requirements. Assuming they have the same dimensions, I'd go with old for nostalgic reasons!

    Vermont Castings Intrepid?

Hey guys/gals, I'm looking for the left door glass for a VC Intrepid, 1985 model I believe. I have local shops here in Guilford, CT, but it's a real hassle, as in going on over a year to get the glass with no call back, etc.. Right now I have layered tin foil and it works, but you can't see the...

How to tell if wood is seasoned?

Occasionally I get some firewood that looks seasoned, etc. but doesn't burn very well, and in particular, takes a long time to get lit. I have to hold a torch to it etc. Obviously I can tell green wood right off, but is there a way to insure that the wood you are buying is seasoned? Thanks

    What is CAD?

Fairly new member, no bashing please! I used the search and I googled, but I can't find a definitive answer as to what CAD is as used by many of you. To me it means computer aided drafting. Thanks

What type of winter boots do you wear?

The best boots I've ever owned are made by Garmont. I have the Dakota's I believe.

Jonsered Bar Sprocket - To Grease or not to Grease?

Hey, do you guys use the grease pen on the sprocket? I was told "don't bother" when trying to buy one @ a JRED dealer. I figure the hole is there for a reason, just double checking to make sure I got accurate maintenance info. Thanks,

    New here - Jreds 2036T

Thanks to everyone who responded. So far so good. I use it every night to cut up some wood and no issues yet. It's lasted longer than the brand new Poulan did!

    New here - Jreds 2036T

It's just a regular saw. I don't think it's called a top handle, but it does have a handle on the top of the saw????

    New here - Jreds 2036T

Hi folks, I'm new here. I just bought a "like new" JRed 2036T. I used the search feature on the site to find out some info and I see a lot of reference to the saw not being a "real" jred, etc. I needed a saw for cutting firewood. Against my better judgement I went to Walmart and bought a...
