    Stihl 038AV, leaking gas tank

I fixed the tank on my 038 Super with "Form-a- gasket" liquid rubber. Get it at auto parts stores. Works like a charm.

    Osage in East TN

After hearing you fellers talk about what good firewood Osage orange is, I came upon some recently here in east TN of all places......and I've got permission to cut it. I found it by spying a bunch of horseapples laying on the ground, which was the dead giveaway. Is it easy to split and how...

    TSC 35Ton Splitter

I've got the Husky 35 tonner and the Speeco branded 22 tonner; no complaints except for the return hose on the 35 tonner. If you get either, go to Northern Tool and get their red return hose to have for a replacement when the stock one bubbles. As far as splitting goes, the 35 tonner will...

tree worker hit and killed by train Trenton OH

I see this all the time guys. Please, if you are doing a job near the train tracks, stay off the tracks unless you are fully protected by a railroad flagman who will stop the trains if you are working on or near a railroad track. Look, listen, and live! 30 years as a CSX locomotive engineer.

    Thanksgiving Traditions......

Rickochet, that was a very touching post and it has mirrored my thoughts this weekend. Here in the western NC mountains we had a tradition of slaughtering our hogs on Thanksgiving. Let me tell you right now that there's nothing more tasty as fresh pork tenderloin, green beans and mashed...

Speeco ( TSC ) 22 ton log cradle

:agree2: I wouldn't be without mine on both the 35 and 22 tonner. But now be aware that the Huskee 22 ton model from TSC is not predrilled with mounting holes. Only the SPEECO brand models are pre-drilled. I also have one of 33Flame's catchers, and they are built well, but require a...

    Warm Morning grates; where?

Not long ago I traded some firewood for a Warm Morning 617A and a Jacobs Magazine circulator wood stove, both with burnt out grates and missing shakers. Can any of you put me on somebody that sells grates, shakers and other parts for these old stoves? Thanks in advance for your help!

What is wrong with todays "logging, and sawmill methods?"

Mtngun hit it on the head. The fine hardwood market here in the south is dead and appears to be dead for the foreseeable future. Those big nice fine oaks don't bring didley squat, and those that do sell get loaded on a ship to China for veneering logs. Fine furniture and flooring hardwoods...

    Huskee/Speeco Hyd Oil Filter number?

Jerry....those listed will work just fine on the 35 tonner. I use the NAPA 1553 on both my 22 and 35 tonner. I'm sure Kevin will confirm this when he logs back on to the site.

    Chestnut Oaks

It's not hard to do; you have to start seedlings in a raised bed and transplant them later to their permanent planting plot. 1) First, store the acorns in a sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator until you are ready to plant them, preferably this fall. 2) In a semi-shaded wooded area...

Hello and welcome to AS. Although this is a milling forum, I will offer some advice that you might find helpful, since I also have a firewood business. The chainsaw foum will offer you some help also. I'm 51, and my vote goes to the MS361; here's why: power. Although there is a...

Shagbark Hickory- how long to season?

Split it now and the pieces on the top of the pile will be ready to burn on New Year's day, 2011. I might add this handy tidbit of info that I know you'll enjoy if you do any BBQing: Put your longest bar on and make a big bunch of noodles (sawchips or shavings that are made when you saw...
