    My Holz Hausen

Sheeeeew. Its been a long time since I've posted here. Hope everyone has been doing well. So here it is, my holz hausen. (wood house). It's not the best looking one, but for a first, it's not to shabby. I built it going by the instructions on The Chimeny Sweep. These were really good...

    359 E-Tech - 14000RPM to high/lean?

Thanks for all the replies. The manual for the saw states that it comes from the factory a bit rich and to lean it out after a good run-in time. That's why I took it to the dealer, to let him do some final adjustments. He's been at it a little while, but I still figured I'd check with yall...

    359 E-Tech - 14000RPM to high/lean?

Howdy yall. I know I know, long time no post. Been busy with a zillion other things. My hobbies switch season to season, so I'm back around to sawin. Yup, I used the search feature and was unable to find the answer I was looking fer. Would you consider 14,000 RPM on the Husky 359 E-Tech...

    Wood Cookstove mmmmmmm

Very expensive. I think the monarch runs for around $5,000 new. That's a bit ridiculous, but for being hand crafted I guess it's about right. It seems that most of the wood cook stoves today are more fancy decorative and simple and practical. If more manufacturers would go practical and cost...

    Wood stove help

My great uncle built a garage/body shop about the same size as your building. Heck, it might've been a little bigger. He bought the dual barrel kit and put it together to heat the place. It did a heck of a job. He took just a standard run of the mill box fan and put it a few feet away to...

    Wood Cookstove mmmmmmm

Your wife is absolutely right. Everything just seems to taste better when cooked on a cookstove. And the ovens are often pretty well even heated from having the heat of the fire go over top, down the side, underneath and then up the back. The heat of the fire totally encapsulates it. There is...

    Wood Cookstove mmmmmmm

Yup, I'm back, at least for a little while. (shush, I know you hoped I wouldn't come back) Hope everyone has been doing well! I had my first real fire of the season this morning. Dropped down to 42 last night down here in the hills. Funny thing is I just got finished getting the cookstove and...

    Grenade style splitting wedge

I got my wood grenade at the local hardware store. I like it, but it can get swallowed up like Shultz said, though I think happens a lot less than your standard splitting wedges.

    Burning a Cucumber Tree.

I'm about 4 1/2 hours west of you, about 5 miles from the Kentucky border straight as a crow flies. I looked all over for a rating like that:) Thanks for the info/link!

    Being Prepared

Finally caught this one:) Yea cell phones have definately put a whammy on ham radio, but ham still can't be beat. In my area cell phone coverage is centralized to small towns. In the rural areas (85% of us) we can't get a good signal.

    Mix Ratio?

And the Tally Is...... Based on posts to this thread I have devised this score for Mix Ratios...... Ratio----Users 100:1-----1 50:1------3 45:1------1 40:1------8 36:1------1 32:1------2 50:1 and 40:1----2 And we have 1 guy out there with way to much liquid measuring equipment...

    The "Name That Wood" Game

Fruit woods are often good for smoking meat due to their aromatic smoke. You may check with someone who likes to BBQ and see if they want any of it. Worth a shot:)

    The "Name That Wood" Game

The height and leaf looks like a fruit tree or a flowering tree of some sort. I'm stumped.

    Being Prepared

I think I have one of those laying around the shack I might use start taking it with me. I could just grab an ole ELT and let the CAP find me:) Just giving ya a hard time. If you got someone filing their nails in the truck, she will probably go into a panic when she sees a severed leg...

    Burning a Cucumber Tree.

LOL. You had me going there for a second BRM. It's gonna have to season a bit, but I may find a couple of semi dry pieces to throw on a camp fire and study it. I'll just wait a bit before I throw any weiners on it. Oh and here's something interesting about the tree. I got to splitting an...

    Being Prepared

Ta heck with a CB. Get your ham license! $10 for a book to study the 35 question test (no morse code) $14.00 to take the test $70 - $200 for 2 meter walky (or get a used for much cheaper) 2M can go a LOOOOONG way (especailly with a good repeater). I did 60 miles to a repeater...

    Mix Ratio?

E-Tech vs 40:1 Mix Ratio Okay, lemme throw in on this one. (I used the search feature, uh huh, yes sireee) 40:1 is better, but what about on the new E-techs with the cat muffler? I don't want to swarp the muffler for a non-cat on account of voiding ye old warranty on a new saw. I figure...

    Being Prepared

I got my sawcase which includes: a chainsaw, filing kit, bucking/felling wedges, sprocket greaser, and scrench. I would probably take an extra chain, but I haven't afforded one as of yet. I also take a 1 ga. can of gas and bar/chain oil if I figure I'll run through the tanks. I usually throw...
