Homelite Chainsaws

Stopped at a local shop today to look at the new Echo saws. He is a Homelite turned Shindaiwa turned Echo dealer. Same old story, we got to talking saws and he presented me with the opportunity to by some of his Homelite NOS. I of course said "I'll pass, no one is interested in that junk."

More to come......He also showed me the parts saw roomsssss. I need a bigger truck

Finnaly got it strapped up today.

Dont know how many times I counted the DL's from another matching loop and I still cut the new 9/16 a DL short.:deadhorse:

fortunatly the old oregon repair kits have cutters and drivers to splice in so it worked out ok
accept I grabbed a 63 gauge #6 driver instead of a .058 for the # 5 chain.
Had to grind er down a tad.

the bar is a 58 gauge.

Can somebody ID this Homie for me? I didn't see any tags but is there somewhere else I should be looking a model/serial number? There is a number (serial?) engraved/punched in the bottom of the case.

That's a nice looking 5-30. They are almost better looking than the 7-29/8-29 because the narrower fuel tank gives it a skinnier look. I'd like to find one.

What's a restored XP 1020 worth? Pics later today.

Probably anywhere from $100 on the low end upwards of $300 or more on the high, depending on if it looks and runs like it came off the show room floor.

that is the cleanest one I found out here. have a few more 5-30's but they are buried at the moment.

When I brought this one in I was just grabbing a few parts off it for my 7-29
and when I noticed it turned over and had spark I primmed it and it fired.
That bar Mitch had only matches this one saw so I grabbed it.

Also wanted to let you know that the oregon 10 repair links work perfect for
the dyna link 1/2 pitch chain, ( perfect fitment ).

just made a loop for the new 895 this week.

Picked up this bar today it is a NOS general bar that measures 44 inches from tip to tip without the roller tip, is .063 gauge, and I think is a homelite mount. I will check this out later today on my 770D. Is there still roller tips to be had these days? Are they easy to install or do they take a special tool? sorry the only saw I had handy was the 045 and was just using it for scale.[/QUOTE]

Where'd you order the roller from? If your 770D don't like that long roller nose bar.........................then I could make a huge sacrafice by trading you a 36" hardnose (cut length) for it. Tradeja straight accross. My 1130G would do fine with it. What a guy I am......:hmm3grin2orange:

Not a perfect resto by any means. The paint seems a little fragile, which may be a good thing as the color is off I think. One screw broken off in the gas tank, a hole in the corner of the muffler ( I think the outer muffler is homemade), several of the screws in the tank are not original. But, it still looks pretty nice. Has good compression but I haven't tried to run it yet. I think it may be to pretty for my taste. :msp_biggrin:

Good to know about the #10 repair links. The Dyna-link came with tons of repair parts. A little tricky to put together but not bad. Can't use a spinner, but I have no problem peening the rivets.

Not sure I'd want to pull your 5-30 over with the itty-bitty recoil handle.

That's a nice saw but its missing 3 things. A full wrap, the screen for the recoil and an auto oiler :msp_biggrin:

I wish my starter housing matched the rest of my NOS parts I used to build this saw. I'll get one eventually though.

xl12 fuel line

What is diameter is the factory fuel line on an xl12 ? Dont know the year of it , it is red. Were the blue ones older than the ones that were painted red. It has a manual oiler.Could someone take a guess as to how old this saw could be .Thanks
