Speaking of the 245A, mine is leaking a bit of fuel out of the front of the tank. The gasket is old and isn't quite sealing up tight in that spot. Any suggestions on making a new one or using something to seal it up better?

Motoseal works well. If you can pick the gasket out and coat it all the better.

It's cork.

You need a gasket in there so coat that one. Motoseal alone won't do it because of the large void. I cut one similar for a Mac PM 700 from 1/8" cork gasket material by measuring the width of the gasket channel and cutting a straight piece of the appropriate length using a razor knife and a straight edge .

I sealed the butt ends with Motoseal. It worked well. I think many guys just coat the existing gasket with Motoseal or equivalent and use that.

Good info, thanks Tim. I'll try and just coat the one that is in there.

It will leak. Sealant band-aids on old gaskets are rarely effective and typically result in little more than a sticky mess needing cleaned up the SECOND time ya pull things apart to try sealing it again. Make a new gasket in the first place. I use Fel-Pro material. Advance, O'Reilley's, Auto Zone....

I was under the impression you can't find them anywhere. That's why I was asking I could make one or not.

You may be right that they aren't available. Been awhile since I bought one. Like 5 years ago apparently. :(

They are just cork material, so should be able to make one. If you are artistic and handy, unlike me.
