Husqvarna 266SE

Hey y'all,

Guy has a 266SE up for sale for $500. Looks to be in great condition, with little run time, and a recent tune up he says. He thinks he bought it in 1986, so could even be the larger carb on there. I'm looking to see what y'all think about the 266SE and if that price is as steep as it seems to me. I currently have an Echo CS-590, but looking to upgrade a little with a cool old saw. Worth it? Thanks.

Are you able to post a few pictures of the saw? At that price I would expect it to be a low hour unit in excellent condition.

Would have to be showroom condition for me.
Last two I bought were XP's, one was $15 of our dollars and the other was $150 of ours- but it came with a Stihl 201T.
So thats around $9 and $90 in USD's.

I have several from probably 60% condition up to 90% they cost between 20.00 to 300.00
Great saws but I wouldn't overpay for one.

That's a lot of money for an old saw even if it runs like new.
It's also not much of an upgrade from your 590, I'd look for a 372, they're quite a bit stronger than the 266 and I like those old 266s.

There great cord wood saws , but that’s steep , has to be in pristine condition,

If I could sell all 7 of my 266 saws for $500 each I'd do it tomorrow...and mine are all OEM, some with new everything and no run time. That price is too high unless you know for sure what's in it.
