From the story I got tonite from the guy I bought it from the saw was ported by a cycle mechanic in IL. ...Its the first saw he ever ported..........Why the **** would they make there first port on a big expensive saw like this ....:confused:

.

Well, at least you knew what you were getting.

If I'm unhappy with a port job, I only have myself to blame.

The only modded saw that I own is a 5100 that I bought that was not running. I cleaned it up and put in a piston. I polished her up a bit and opened the muffler.
I think it runs better than stock but I haven't done any timed comparisons yet. Maybe when I get her broke in.

I do think that some guys do better work on some saw models than others.
I have run some saws that were modded by the same guy. One brand really runs nice and the other one wasn't much different than stock. Some modders are all about RPMs and others are looking for torque too.

I personally prefer some torque too! Not all RPMs.

I also think all the power doesn't matter if you can't sharpen the dang chain!!

I been gone for a while, someone fill me in, who got screwed or was accused of screwing someone....WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON...................

When you look at the history of internet saw builders, they have all come and gone for various reasons.
All of them have had their protagonists and antagonists. That comes with the territory.

The more successful ones have learned from other builders mistakes and aren't continually trying to openly ply their wares.

Brad is a different story as he has already stated he is doing this for the shear enjoyment he gets out of it and not for monetary reasons.

Saw builders often base the quality of their work on who is cheer leading for them. And I did my fair share of cheer leading whether it bit me in the azz or not.
The best is to try to build your own saw, or if you don't want to, be happy with the builder you chose.
Saw builders have to assess the purpose and experience that the prospective buyer has and build accordingly I think.
In other words, do you want stage 1, 2 or 3? Lol

We swaped carbs and ignitions and its a no go.......I have a stock cylinder that I might swap out...........Its not a bad saw for the money I paid .....It can be fixed .......Piston looks good so far.......:cheers:

My dealer remembers when he sold this saw new.....

The problem, is that reguardless of the quality of work someone puts out, there will be those there simply to tear them down. Jealous, insecure, Mama didn't give them enough attention as a child...who know's. The fact of the matter, is that there are a handful of AS members that simply love to see someone bleed. They have total disreguard for the truth. All they care about is knocking someone down. They've run off many a builder. I'm not the first cowboy to ride this bull. Funny thing is, several of these guys haven't posted hardly at all since they took me down with the broken cylinder fin, which is still running stong BTW. They see me have some success with the 261, and here they come again. You can read them like a book if you have any psychology training at all. It's really pathetic that some individuals have to prey on others to make themselves feel better. And before you excuse this thread as something other than what I said it is, think again. If you don't think Steve was fishing for a fight, then you simply don't know him very well. Hopefully, you won't get to know him that well. Still don't think it's true? Go read some of their messages as they agg each other on. Really sad and pathetic.

Everyone is kung foo fighting over hear say. I think John posted a bit a while ago about needing some rudamentry files and sandpaper for porting. Still have that picture John? LOL

Brad, the only big brother advice I can offer is, "if you can't stand the heat, you gotta get out of the kitchen", and "what get's your attention gets you."

If you think saw building is a ruthless game you should try saw racing. That's why I never became much more than an amateur.
BTW, if their not throwing darts at ya, your not getting anywhere.

Ya, the sad part is most of this wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the internet. Lots of tough guys on the net.

I had my 660 modded by an AS member and it seems to me that it should be a little bit faster than what it is...

Ya, this is why I usually say no to people on here that ask me to do their saws. Don't need the hassle.

You mean perform miracles with used piles???

Turn em' up like a bic lighter, use for a week, and then go get another LOL!!

You got that right! That's one serious reason I'd never be interested in saw racing.
