Well, Ijust picked up a PP335 on EBay. Supposedly has a scored cylinder. Looks like piston and cylinder are NLA. Are there any other crossover parts from other models that will fit? Just in case the cylinder can't be cleaned up.

Swap a top end from a 3.3 onto it.

Yea, Joe, they are pretty close in size. 46 cc vs. 49cc.

That's close alright. Seems like the thin ring chrome bore saws always have a little more pop ie 3400 vs 3700. Maybe not that noticeable tho?

I took a thick ring complete top end off of a Sears best 3.3 (3300) and swapped it onto my pp335. Same difference as 3700/3800. Worked out fine.

I did some IPl checking because I was thinking you might find a Craftsman 3.3 cheap enough with a good top end.

I found two different piston kit parts numbers for the Craftsman 3.3:
Model 358.351202 / 530-069547
Model 358.356330 / 530-010986

The Poulan 335 IPL shows:
530-010989

would a pp 330 setup bolt on? I know the recoil is bigger and the covers are different as well as the carb nix but not sure about the case.

Haha, I almost did, thought about and saw it ended up with only one bid.

Maybe you need to put a new chain on it too.

I have another 3.3 here that iirc has a good top end.
I'll dig it out tomorrow and check.

LOL, I appreciate that offer Mark!! More than you can imagine. No, I'm not buying it, but that was one of the reasons I wasn't. Being have to be picked up in Chicago...I would rather walk 100 miles to pick up a Stihl saw...well, maybe not.
