I've got woods logging across the river from me that has Dolmar and Husky that's pro tailored and then Madsen's that's an hour which is both Husky and Stihl, it's hard to beat what I have right around me but I'm in a pro market area as well being a faller myself.

I wish I had a husky dealer worth 2 cents in my area but I have not found one. Heck I would be even happier if there was a jred dealer. Still none exist. Our stihl dealers are not people I want to give my business to. So that leaves me with dolmar or echo for any new saw purchases.
I can live with that.

find a local echo dealer and demo a couple.
ive used echo's for the past 8 years logging and for firewood. i wont buy anything else now. they have proven their durability to me.

i like the 590 timberwolf same as a 600p. yes its plastic covered. but its very light and has the HP. at $359.00-399.00 sug retail.
what do you have to lose? get two echo's for $700.00!

one things for sure, money doesn't grow on trees! if it did we'd all be rich!

Not taken offensively at all and thanks for taking the time to reply. I've had good experience with my 560XPG and while I'd heard of a few problems with early carbs and a service bulletin which recommended sealant be used to help set the gasket on 560/562's which had the cylinder removed/replaced, I wanted to know more. It's not something I'll worry about to be honest as there are literally so many of them out there at this stage, a failure here and there will happen. Doesn't matter the brand or model. Interesting to hear about your logger friend having two failures in a very short timeframe. I think it's reasonable to say that this isn't the norm and something unusual has happened there.

Anyway, nice to hear input from a Stihl guy who's happy to run his preferred brand without wanting to have a row with the Husky guys! :) I like Stihl products, but personal preference pushes me into Husky ownership where all else is pretty equal.
Likewise, unfortunately I don't think we will ever find out what the cause was. Maybe Spike or another Husky guy can explain this a little better. From what two dealers he talked to said the same idea. Husky looks at cost of repair, if it is half of the cost of the unit they replace the unit all together. Dealer sends back to the mother country.

Impossible!!! Capitainehaddick said no one uses Echo's for logging:).

I wouldn't rule out dealing with some of the dealers on here if I had access to USPS for the occasion that a saw would need to go back for a repair.
I read his post twice, he never say he's a pro logger...:p

I really doubt he use his saws 8 hour/day 5 day/week like me . Or if he did, he should try a real saw, like... almost anything else:laugh:

Saucer of milk to table two please, waiter. :D

correct! im not a full time logger anymore. but i know a good saw.
i only have to use 3 echos to do my work when it comes around.
looking at signatures: i see if you use husky or stihl as most on here it takes a huge list of saws to complete the job. :dancing: or are you folks just collectors?

You're wasting your time...entitlement, socialist babies have a whole different logic. And they can't carry on a constructive conversation if someone disagrees with them.

You're right, calling me socialist so many times on a chainsaw related forum to contradict me proves you know a lot about logic and constructive conversation [emoji1]

Just like your knowledge about saws, finally [emoji14]

You're absolutely right, Echo's are good saws. But if you were a full time logger, you should know how important the weight difference is at the end of the day/week/month. I had the chance to try almost every 60cc saw actually available from all the great brands, and the 620p/620sx is still my last pick.

I don't know..... If you are slinging a saw 8hours/day 5days/week you would think you would be in good shape and wouldnt even notice a few ounces on a saw..... especially PROFESSIONAL loggers. Is there a logging diploma you get after 4 years of study from a University in France or something?
