Jonsereds 80, Oiler plugged, not pumping out oil.

Things I Know.
-the oilier is producing pressure, as it is pushing oil out of the pressure relief plug.
-the oilier (piston?) is clean and has all its parts. I took it out and cleaned it.
-I do not believe that the oilier is badly adjusted. I tried a few different depth configurations of how far the retaining plug was in and maxed the adjustment in both directions on the screw.
- the screen and rubber tubes in the oil reservoir are clean and clear of obstruction.
-i have tried flushing the oil reservoir a few times, and also run it with avgas (100ll) it will pump about a teaspoon (5ml) of gas every minute or so. it will pump a tiny bit of oil but nowhere near what I need to operate the saw normally.

Things I need to know.
- Is there a way to fix this that doesn't involve taking the crank case apart?
- If not how do I get the flywheel and drive sprocket clutch off? I have been thinking about making a custom puller but if anyone has done this before I'll take helpful hints.
If i do have to take the crankcase apart, what should I watch out for, and is there anything else I should do while its apart?
Am I missing something obvious here?

If I get some more insight and still cant fix it i will take a video and see if we cant figure it out.

There is nothing to be gained by splitting the cases except you'll need to find a NLA case gasket and new crank seals. You say it builds pressure because oil comes out the pressure relief valve. There is no pressure relief valve in this system......which causes me to ask where the oil is coming from? These systems don't really build pressure......just enough to overcome gravity as the piston acts more like a paddle. Your oil rings must all be good as you didn't mention it leaking. You cleaned the screen so that's not the issue......next is the hose that runs to the oil pump......you state it's hooked up properly. What I suggest is to pull the pump again and remove the chain catcher, filter screen and black plastic cup and using VERY light air pressure or a hand held pump type oil can, blow back through the rubber hose......go easy, be patient if there is oil in the line it will take a few seconds to move to the pump cavity.......which you should the looking down for oil/sludge returning. You have to be very careful not to blow the hose off the pump end as it's a rather unpleasant task to reattach. If this is successful and the oil readily moves through the hose and brass fitting your feed line is clear. While the pump body is out, blow back through the oil passage that goes from the pump to the bar to make certain this is also clear. Clean out any blow back oil/sludge from the pump cavity. Find an IPL and make certain you have all the parts to the oil pump and if so replace it in the correct order. You may want to try and prime the pump with a hand held pump type oil can before you put any oil in the tank so you can tell that the oil is coming out the feed line. Again this will take time and patience as the oil should not readily go through the pump and go to the tank. Good luck....... it's very rare these pumps actually fail but can need help occasionally as yours seems to.

There is a tiny cotter pin on the top of the oil reservoir it leaks oil while the saw is running hard. while the saw is running hard. it also leaked gas when I flushed the tank. I know from experience how hard that tube is to get back in places, as I tied to clean it out with 120 psi air. I will try all of your suggestions and report back.

That cotter pin is what is known as a "wiggle pin" it's purpose is to let air but not much else into the oil tank as the oil is pumped out. It wiggles so as not to allow the vent hole to close up with debris. Only a primitive tank vent. Yes it would leak gas too if you were flushing the oil tank. I am assuming you meant the oil tank because there would definitely be an issue if it leaked das when flushing the fuel tank!

I figured it was a breather of some sort. I will rebuild the oiler this weekend and make sure it is put together correctly. Definitely won't be cracking open the crank case. I may replace the tubes in the oil tank, they where pretty hard. I'll post my results when I finish.

Ok so I worked on the saw. Air will pass through. I got a few drops of oil with the saw running with the throttle lock on but no consitant flow. The oiler piston seems to be making pressure as the breather has oil coming out. I blew air through everything and it goes in and out. I cleaned the oiler in gass again and ran air though it. All passages seem to be free. Still no oil. Honestly stumped.

I re read you post and will try to pre fill the oiler with a oil can.
