    Speccing a sawblade

A couple months ago I bought a circular sawmill setup for a 48” blade but it didn’t come with a blade. I’m trying to get my order info correct. If I go 6 gauge, will the holders still be 6 gauge? Do them make them for whatever gauge holder you want to go with? Do you guys normally go with the...

Chain tight in one place, loose in another

Check to see if a couple of links on that chain are stiff and don’t move well at the rivet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Chain tight in one place, loose in another

Is it one somebody built? A rivet too tight. So when it goes loose the tight rivet is either at the spur or the nose? When you pull the chain through, is there a link or two that stand up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Question about narrow kerf chain for MS 250

Question about narrow kerf chain for MS 250

Yes. But if there is one with an extra tooth in Picco 3/8” combined with 0.43 chain perhaps? My 261 came with .325 but it got changed up to full cutter Picco 3/8”. Called the “Pro Kit” maybe? The Picco had a narrower cut but it also seemed that the accompanying rim sprocket ran more speed...

Question about narrow kerf chain for MS 250

I didn’t pick up on him maybe running #63 or #61 chain. I was thinking 0.063. Even my 660 has 0.050 on it. The narrow kerf chain on my 170 takes the same file as the 0.050 chain. Is there a spur sprocket with another tooth on it available? Unless you pick up some chain speed at the same time, I...

    Echo Chainsaw Thoughts??

I think mine is a 331- grey top handle. Nothing special, it gets used infrequently. It always starts, pulls a chain okay, smells a little less obnoxious if you have to work in a situation where you aren’t hunched over. When I had a local dealer they sold Stihl, so that’s what most of my saws...

    I got a Blue saw...

It’s the only way to get older versions of saws. I’ve been toying with the idea of a hertzl kit 200 and try and find some rear handle plastics or combination thereof. I need a rear handle version. But I’m going to have to figure out which farmertec/ hertzl parts won’t cut it and figure out from...

What does a beginner chainsaw carver need??

Just bear in mind, the larger the tip, the worse the kickback. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

recently started carving furniture with my saw HELP!

Ms192 isn’t my favourite. Maybe a 201 but it is pricey. You could ask if there’s a 1/4” spur for a ms211? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What does a beginner chainsaw carver need??

I see this is fairly old. Have you got a brand of saw picked out? From there, look for a model you can put a 1/4” spur sprocket on. I wouldn’t lose a ton of sleep about going to 1/4” chain right away, just that you can upgrade to it if you want. Otherwise, for playing around, a short bar is all...

    Carving setup for Stihl 026?

There’s a few bars out there. Mine for my ms261 is a Cannon 14” quarter tip. I use both 3/8” and .325” on it (rim sprocket on it). Not sure about a sprocket for yours- I doubt there is a 1/4” spur for that saw if that’s what you’re looking for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which of my saws would work best for carving?

I know for sure you can 1/4" spur for the 201, and I'm pretty sure you can get 1/4 spur for the Echo. Would think you could for the 450 but I don't much on Husky's. My vote would be the Echo. I know one guy that uses a top handle for carving (and his work is nicer then mine) but that wouldn't be...

An angry little bumble bee - MS150TC

I'm quite pleased with how it runs stock. Obviously a little more jam would be that much better. Is the oiler ever temperamental though. [emoji15]

An angry little bumble bee - MS150TC

Were there pretty good gains from the mods then? I just got my rear handle 150, but have only ran it one day. I think with that Picco 1/4 chain, it probably cuts as well as the 170 with 3/8 that it's replacing. After I got a couple tanks through it, it seemed to do not too bad. Not real sure...

    Tree sculpture saws

Saw itself isn't necessarily that unique. There's lots of consumer ones that work well. The bar and chain typically are unique though. If you check Bailey's (and others) you'll find carving packages consisting of chain, rim sprocket/ spur, and carving bar for many small popular consumer saws...
