They should have checked here first.

Yes, the key on a chainsaw is just for timing. And for the steel vs. aluminum argument, the key on a lot of newer saws is cast as part of the flywheel.

IH red is not a good match (of course IH red opens a whole other can of worms). I've found that Ford Engine Red from Duplicolor is really close. That body shop did a nice job color matching. The few times I've done a color match (never tried for Jonsereds) I was disappointed.

What color is that? It looks like a very good match.

272 top cover is only a direct fit for the single coil case.

I guess someone took your advice (no, it wasn't me).

They aren't. The 272 has a little more grunt. The 670 is a little zippier which makes it a better all around saw in my opinion. I've said it 100 times, the 670 is my favorite saw ever.

    I don't, but others may.

A 670 top end will be a much simpler upgrade with results very close to the 272. The 625 and 670 use the same intake style, same impulse system, and same carb connection. The 272, well, doesn't. I'm not saying it's a hard conversion, it just takes a lot more pieces.

Another note on the early 630. They came with an S clip that fit over the bar studs so the old 10mm Jonsereds bar would fit as the 630 was the only saw in the lineup to not use it at the time. I have a whole bag of them somewhere.

So, the first year (1982) 630 is what you have there. They had the "s" (I think 1983 had it as well) and the metal flag. My uncle bought one new in December 1982 and it looks just like that. It has the same fuel cap too.

Hmmmmmm, there's a guy in our local snowmobile club who's about 20 minutes from that 111s. I need to find his number..............

    Jonsered Chainsaws

I had concerns about that 111s. The amount of paint loss on the bottom compared to the rest of the saw, the fact that the silver was as nice as it was (I've seen NOS saws that have some discoloration/flaking), the muffler had a dent and appeared to have been repainted, and the decompression...

Yes, the 625II is the same as the 670 Champ, 670 SuperII, 630 SuperII. it has the four holes, two for access to the short muffler bolts. The 625 (and other early models) only has two holes because they use the long muffler stud.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

I guess I'll jump in here with my stories, both positive and negative. As for the negative, I ran into these "collectors". They need a hard to find part for this old saw they just have to get going again, usually with a family history or trying to get it going for a down on their luck friend...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

I have nothing against clamshell saws. I do however have issues with the Jonsered 450, 455, 525, 535, etc saws. They are not a very good design and certainly were not up to the same standard of the saws they replaced. I have had a Jonsered 2050 for 25 years and it has been a great saw and is...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

The saw looks honest, and the seller just calls it a Jonsereds. Here is the post: "I have some Jonsered chain saws for sale model 49 & 52 in good working cond. I also have some for parts. Best offer . I am posting for another person if interested call them direct......."
