    My new 7900 - Cutting Test/Tuning (Video)

Sounds perfect to me, cuts nice too, a little smaller log would give us a better idea of how it sounds when the load is decreasing.

Ported 254 Husqvarna...Big fun small package!

One of the greatest!!!!! I would love to have $5 for each cord of pulpwood that I put on the ground with a 254 in the years that I ran them, I would be a happy man.

what file to use on my 3/8 chain, 7/32 or 13/64

3/8 till the chain is half worn out and 13/64 for the rest. It will leave a bigger hook if you use 13/64 at the beginning and remember, it's not the hook that cuts the wood.

New to Me MS361......or is it just NEW?????

:rock:My brother in law owned 2 of these upon the advice I gave him from reading on this site. I ran both of his but never owned one, it was one of the smoothest and best handling saws I ever put in my hands. His was 3/8 pitch chain and 15 or 16 inch bars. I congratulate you on such a beautiful...

wich stock saw would you choose

Very true. I am curious about the 346xp and would to get one, the NE version. From what I have read here it seems to be very well balanced which I will take any day of the week. The 357 in comparison to to the 254/262, handles like a brick.

wich stock saw would you choose

I had great luck with the 2 series of husqvarna (254,257,262)bulletproof and used them professionally for 10 years, cutting 1000-1200 cords of pulpwood for years with the above mentioned saws. I feel like the newer series of saws are not of the same quality of the 90s but that might just be me...

wich stock saw would you choose

Broken case, screws that wont stay tight,on off switch wire, leaking oil tank, decompression line(switched back to old style) and coil issues. other than that, it's been a great saw.

wich stock saw would you choose

Pick the 359, my experience with the 357 is that the XP must stand for xtra problems.:msp_sad:

    files

I like Echo files, I don't know who makes them for the saw maker but I find them to outlast stihl/oregon by at least a 2:1 margin.

    550XP - .325 vs 3/8

A .325 chain on a small speedy lower torque saw will cut faster than a 3/8 chain on the same saw(346/550). However, take the same bar/chain length and put it on a 562/362 and the 3/8th will outcut the .325. I think it comes down to torque vs speed when it comes to chains(.325 vs 3/8) I guess it...

    GypoLogger's Yukon Cabin

I used to live in Faro in 1989-90, I remember 24 hour sunshine in the summer time, Grizzly bears everywhere and way too many hangovers.cheers.

What's the most impressive saw you've ever run?

262xp for me and it's not even close, It was a screamer and I had it set up to sing. In my opinion Husky never took the quality of the 90s into the 3 series and beyond. I stupidly sold that saw to my brother in law for his firewood business, he blocked 600 cords with it before it died. I must...

If you could make one improvement

How about a saw that just starts when you want it too with perfect balance and low weight that comes in multiple colours and everyone on AS agrees about and lets us all live happily ever after.:msp_biggrin:

    New Saw Pics...

Nice saw you got there, if it were mine, I would go with .325 chain and a 15 inch Husqvarna bar for the best balance/handling combo.

    .325 vs 3/8 Chain

I think the saw will suffer with a 3/8th setup, it does not have the power to justify it. I would only run 3/8 on a larger 4+ horsepower saws.

Oregon chain filing - file "down angle"

When it comes to sharpening, I think I will quote Sheryl Crow. "If it makes you happy, it can't be that baaaaaaaaaad".:msp_biggrin:
