Hi guys, I have some more questions about why my dolmar 6100 hates me. For a while now, probably 4-5 months I have had trouble with the chain stretching what seemed like pretty quickly. I thought maybe it was just a brand difference or I was cranky or something. I would have to carry the scrench with me to tighten it so I would not have to walk back to the truck all the time. For the most part the Stihls and the poulan/Husky would not need tightening until I ran out of fuel. It did it with several different chains and two different sprockets. Yes, the chain is sharp. So, eventually the bar burned up and I went and got another bar. ($75!!!!!) He said that he would have to order another bar and it would take a couple of weeks and would be the same price, so I got the one that he had on hand. It is a hard nose that was for .325. I have 3/8 on the saw, but he said that it was fine since it was a hard nose. So I went out to work. With two different chains the thing smokes within four-five cuts. This is limb cutting. Yes, it oils (it quit leaking oil, so I was glad to see that.) Yes, it does it with primo bar oil and different brands. Yes, it's sharp. The tensioner does not appear to be messed up. If I run it with the chain hanging down, it will last seven-eight cuts without smoking, but then the chain has already loosened up and will come off. The dealer has been less than any help. I think that I am dumber when I come out of there than when I went in. Thanks for any help guys. Incidentally, this is not a brand thing. This is just not proper functioning.

These use small mount Husqvarna pattern so there should be plenty of bar options. I was having similar issues with an almost new safety chain. It was the rakers. The chain should be a little looser on hard nose bars too. You said it was a .325 bar and 3/8 chain. Are they at least the same guage?

Yep, it is the same gauge. It oils, it's sharp, the chains aren't new and it does it from too loose to too tight. It does it with multiple chains. What does small mount husqvarna pattern mean? What models would use this? I'm going to get me a new bar and chain and see how that does.

Oregon K095 is the bar mount. Plenty of options out there for it.

That list of models need to be updated - it is outdated by about a decade - more in some cases. ;)

If it is a hard nose bar it doesn't matter if you run .325, .375 or .404 as long as the gauge of the chain matches the bar.
Yes, of course!

Also, they need a looser chain, and they rob power from the saw because of added friction at the tip + create more heat.

Obviously not the right kind of bar to try in a situation like this.

If you are using a bar with the wrong mount pattern there is a very strong possibility the oil holes do not line up and your chain is not getting oil.

I would like to take a look at the tail ends of his bars - I suspect you are right.....

If the bars are from a Dolmar dealer, chances are that he got a K041 bar (that they use on some models) on a K095 mount saw. The bar slot and the adjuster holes will fit - but there will be no ordinary oil holes.

I hate this saw. I took it to a different shop and he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the old setup, either. I guess I will have to go back to the dealer. The last time I was in there I needed a bolt for the pull starter and they told me they had never had any and didn't know if it could be ordered. Incidentally, the horses were glad I used nippers on their hooves, but I don't think I could have trimmed them with my dangling modifier chainsaw.

It oils fine.

image.jpg image.jpg We now have the oiler end and lastly the box that the 'new' bar came in. So, the box says z095, but the internet says k095. Also, one bar says 64 teeth, one says 72 ( the .325) and the Internet says 68. So, aside from needing 50 gauge and 3/8, which one? Also, should I switch to 16"? Sometimes it's a dog, especially on noodling. But sometimes it isn't, just to cOnfuse things. Admittedly, this would solve the number of teeth issue. T hanks, guys
