I like that relic, but it really shouldn't have been an option in this poll........
It really was outdated in 1999, when the original 346xp appeared, if not before (Dolmar 115i).
Well, most all the saws will be outdated come 2010. Will the 346XP survive the EPA requirements?

Thank god for that outboard clutch or I would have slipped over the line by now. The 372XP remains the only tempting Husky for me in the Evil Empire.

I've cut the 346XP NE versus the MS260 and I think the 346 is a better performer all around. The 260 is a very solid saw and I agree with sbnelling that the controls feel more solid on the saw, but it just doesn't have the raw pep the 346XP has.
As for a firewood saw, if I had to have one overall saw I might just choose a 346XP NE. I've had mine with a 16" bar buried in wood and it doesn't bog and cuts like a dream. I'm finding that even here in the PNW I'm using my 346 about 1.5 or 2:1 over my 372.

The other thing I do not like about the Husky line is the plastic cases. Seems that the two halves do not often fit together right, especially in the grip. :monkey:
Also the Husky dealers here are highly varied, and none have the same line of saws. Most dropped the low end now that the big box stores sell them.

If I had to have one it would be the 2153, but finding out about the outboard clutch has put a serious damper on my enthusiasm for it.
Time to wait until 2010 and see if things improve...

I see the dont have the Jred 2153 listed ......Its a far better saw than the NE346 ........I guess you need to put votes from two saws together to beat the others.....LOL
