P26 Bar Nuts Wanted

Aquired a P26 Very dirty & gunged up but after cleaning up, fixing the recoil, & check over, it starts & runs o.k. Buuut some one has been busy on the bar nuts with the vise grips=mangled hex. Problem they are not your bog standard bar fasteners. They are a flanged threaded tube it has a hex on the outside of the flange, 5/16 nf thread with 7/16 od on the tube part. My IPL shows std. flanged nuts. Does any one have 2 of these they would sell ,or does any one know where I could obtain 2, Thanks for any info.

Those type of nuts were a repair kit used when the outer part of the threads on the studs were stripped, it required that the side cover holes for the studs had to be drilled out and the long reach of the sleeve part would thread in on the good threads further in on the studs. Hope some of the spare parts guy`s can help you out. The part number for the 5/16" nuts is 430477 and for the 3/8" its 430770

I bought a 1073 for parts awhile back , and I think it has one of those nuts on it.I don't know what size though. When I get home I'll look and see.

I guess one would be better than nothing ?

Other than the years of manufacture, 1960-1962 for the 620 and 1962-64 for the S 620, the S 620 had the Tillotson HL 129A carb, the 620 had the Tillotson HL 22A . The color scheme changed between the 620 which was basically yellow with green trim, the S 620 had a yelow body with a copper colored top cover. All the 600 sreies had the same size piston and cylinders, crankshaft and main body style. The main differences were the carbs used and the intake configureations + air filters. The 600 itself used the latch type cover attachment, the 620, S 620 and 650 used a bolt to attach the top cover.

Al, I think I have some of these nuts left. Send me a PM if you still need them and I'll be sure to check.

Long time no see!Glad your back on,the truck must be one heck of a project!

I think that might be a bit of an understatement, Lawrence. I'm in the middle of putting this on right now:

It's a Magnusen supercharger. I picked it up a few days ago. Got the intercooler system and wiring all done today. Missing a few parts for the throttle body so I'll have to wait for those.

It's nothing special but it has low miles and is in great shape. The nice thing about the blower is that it can be put into any year of truck with an LS engine, so it'll be with me a long time, just like my P62W.

I put a Rough Country 3" on mine. I have a 92 Chevy. It consisted of new torsion bars, upper control arms, mounts for the front axle and a thick leaf for the rear that arches the existing ones more. I got 33's on it. It rides rough as heck though. :dizzy:
