I know. Just curious as to what other carbs would fit. I know you mentioned a few but wonder what Brad used.
Bob

Brad said its a walbro and he had to switch alot of stuff around on it to make it work. If you look at the pictures he posted you will see the short adjusting needles in it.

The HS for the 4200 and 5200 have the adjusting needles close together instead of spread out like the ones on the 306-245.

Thats why I suggested maybe a HS from a big Husqvarna as they have the needles like that as well. But you may still have to switch throttle shafts etc for them to hook up right. Then the fuel inlet barb may have to be changed as well. Much easier to just get the right one.

Guess we just misunderstood each other, i apologize.

Its very hard to understand what people are trying to say here. Hard to understand what people mean, tone of voice etc. I try to remember that when I read what folks are saying.

Good on you to apologize. Good luck with the 026

Poulan 4000 issues

Tried to adjust carb and found that saw will still run with Lo needle closed. If I open needle beyond 1 turn, saw will start to die. Haven't had that happen before and feel that there must be an airleak. Usually a saw will die with Lo needle turned enough in both directions and midpoint between the two extremes is normally your adjustment point. Least that's my experience
. Would you guys concur with an air leak? If crank seals are bad would they let enough air in to enable saw to idle with Lo speed screw closed?

No I don't think the crank seal would let it run that way. I would be checking the gaskets on the intake manifold, both sides, cyl and carb side.

Will do. Hope it isn't the manifold to cylinder sided cause that means pulling cylinder. Pretty sure I did a pressure test and didn't see any air leaking from those areas. Only a small leak around one seal which is why I was leaning that way. Wonder if its the gasket itself, blocking something ? Oh well back to the drawing boards.

Doh, I forgot the picture.

Nice!

Looking great Mark! Do you paint all your saws partially assembled?

It depends on the saws. The way these are split in the middle there are bolts that show on the outside and its easier just to paint is assembled.

Looking good there Mr. Poulan:bowdown:
Must be nice having a nice heated shop:cry: I have to wait till summer to do any painting...
Gregg,

Gregg, thats why I have chainsaws, to cut wood to heat the shop. Duh...

Here they are painted. Now to let them dry a day or two then put them together.

Should be nice saws, both got split, new brgs, seals gaskets, rings etc. Did I tell you these are about as easy a saw that I have ever worked on?

I also got the fuel fittings from Bob Wright so I can do the fuel lines in two differernt sizes. I really like that set up and all my 4200-5200 saws will be setup that way.

Dang, (headslap) I forgot the pictures again....

I am super jealous now! :chainsawguy:

I have no ability to repaint right now (dinky little air compressor and no Binks...). I have a gasket set for my S25DA and it would be sweet to break it down and repaint like that...Those two saws are going to look awesome.

I believe I have one of the older 5200 saws without the outside rib on the oil tank. Mark, those saws are looking good. I would paint mine if I did not use them.

I'd like to put a 5200 up against a Super 250 and a C91, could be interesting.

Heck I'd like to see one against a stock 650-660 or 385-390-395 in stock form. I think there would be alot of disappointed guys with big money in their saws!:hmm3grin2orange:

I've got a C91 (currentlyh in pieces, but was running before I tore it apart) I don't think it would have a hope in hell against a 5200/5400/8500.

Not even if you was slamming a beer while running it?:hmm3grin2orange:

Seriously though the Poulan is alot better running saw than what guys think. I used to love it when guys would be like "I aint never seen a POULAN run like that or with a bar that big"
