To the OP

Like mine just fine.Been running it stock, 20 inch bar and 8 pin sprocket. This saw definitely has some grunt behind it.

Currently has about 15 +/- cord and maybe 8000 bd ft of white oak and hickory on it.

The 441C Mtronic do take some time to break in. I received mine brand new as a demo unit from Stihl, took it's cherry in some nice ash so to speak. Liked it so much I bought it. (Substantial discount of course, after all it was a used saw) It was strong out of the box, but keeps getting stronger as you go. I think it plateaued between 3 and 5 cord and then took off again.

Don't have much felling time on it right now, as I said maybe 8K bd ft, but it certainly has the snot for it.

As to bar length, I'd stick to 20 inch and just throw a 28 inch on if needed from time to time as required. Unless you're in 3 foot dia. wood all the time that long bar is a waste. If I really need a bar that big I just grab the PS7900 and go at it. One other thing, if you do want to run a 28 inch bar, you'll need to swap out the oil pump for a MS460 high output pump. Even with a 20 inch bar I made Stihl install one before I would buy the saw.

I know you'll enjoy that saw.

Take Care

Yes, from what I understand, the M-tronic constantly adjusts timing and mixture for peak performance at any throttle position from idle to wot includding part throttle. I would say if ported correctly it would still gain power and speed under load. I don't know if any changes to the electronics were done on Porsches saw. I think there is enough range in the controler to cover the fuel needs.

If that's the case, then I would think it would have to have an O2 sensor at a minimum.

That is some kind of Oak, I can assure that it was hard. Next time I'll take the sledge to what I'm cutting. Lightening from a storm brought it down. Even though some of the darker places on the log look like it is softer it is not. And the end obviously isn't a full round, but then this is the first tank of fuel too.

I think this was the first M-Tronic sold in January 2011 in this country, and was a Wrap model with the heavier springs and larger oil pump. On this particular porting the target was to keep the rpms at or under factory spec and load up the cutting speed derived from the torque created in the porting process. More of a work saw set to last a long time. Only this one came out extremely fast.
My hat is off to Terry with Sawzilla Saws in DesMoines, Iowa.

This is my most remarkable chiansaw, it acts like it has a mind of it's own. No matter where you are or how much "push" you are giving her she just responds with more power. This first tank I was taking it easy on the saw with no push. Not on video is another Red Oak that at the stump was over 3 feet across. It took me cutting from both sides with this 20" bar set up to get through it. I cut 21 cuts, bar buried, on one side of the log, without re-fueling and had some still sloshing around in the tank. Re-fueled and cut the other side to finish the cuts and still had a third or so left again. Really amazing.

Being a Chainsaw Investigator Brad you will have a ball porting one of these. Stihl will have the M-Tronic available to most all Pro Models in 2-3 years. At this time I have tried to be very critical of this MS441 C and don't have any complaints.

The next video with the 441 C will be against a broken in MS460 Dual Port Exhaust and then the Mighty MS460 Sawzilla will be the final to see just how good the Electronic Package is at making up for the lack of cc s.

One final note, the mileage is much improved in comparision to the MS460 or even my MS440. Also right out of the box the
M-Tronic's trigger response is very sharp, equal to a non-strato chainsaw. The Strato chainsaws stock that I have are sluggish in comparision to the M-Tronic, a plus there for sure.

Hope this helps those who are wondering what they are like. Anyone close to me are more than welcome to stop by and try it out for yourself. Send me a PM.

Brad, sounds like you should give one a shot. I'd like to get your impression after porting.

Porsche explained what I suspected about the power being ported along with the M-tronic. I think it does a fantastic job and holds the rpms great. Porsche puts it well saying "it just responds with more power. This should be a real plus when runnig longer bars.

come on guys almost two full pages of posts and not a single..."well its almost as good as a Husky....well husky has a better filtration system....well Husky is red-er...well my wife thinks the husky is bigger..."

Wheres ya pics at man? I hate to say it but none of this happened w/out some pics of your saw. Can you give us any?

I for one appreciate any and all feedback on this saw. I'd love to see/hear more about it, particularly in comparison to some more known entities, such as a 460 and the 372 (actually any version thereof, but particularly the current XT). Speaking of the 460, I doubt we'd ever see one, but I'll bet a M-Tronic 460 would be awesome...

I would say the 461 will get the m tronic. I doubt the 460 will get it.

Dave k already has a 461 and i've heard tell of the 661s being demoed in the states right now. Some in the PNW and I think one in Minnesota. The 461 is rubber av and someone said the 661 is spring av. I hope some spy photos leak out for the 661 soon.
