Im not really a brand basher, cause I like all saws. But I was looking at Echoes website and their own videos make the saws look like turds.Look really slow cutting.Ive only owned 1 echo saw,a 670.I thought it was slow and heavy.I will continuwe to avoid Echo, since it seems they aint got no better

I've owned two CS-670's and currently have a CS-6700 that we fully rebuilt with a new P/C a couple of years ago. None of them were overly impressive anyplace. Some pretty weird factory porting going on in those units, but they are rumored to have great potential for porting.

I loaned out my CS-6700 couple of years ago (don't really care if it ever comes back), and sold both my CS-670's on Ebay. It's not a saw that you'll find yourself reaching for if you have a Husqvarna 262XP or 268XP in the line-up.....FWIW......Cliff

pound for dollar

Give the cs line a try. cs 400, its light starts and cuts. the cs450 pound for pound can't be beat. cs600 stock off the shelf impressive.
I have stihls huskys and echos on the truck, what saws that get used the most; cs450 and the cs600 don't know why, could it be because they are easy to start, light and well balanced and they cut?

seriously, anything beats a handsaw. And I honestly wasnt trying to bash Echo.My only experience with Echo was the 670.Heavy,slow,vibrate your teeth out,and not much cheaper than a good saw. Also I noticed the smaller saws cost more than Stihl or Husky.Anyhow, just watch the vids on their website, you will see what I mean

I've only had one Echo and it was a CS4400. Overall I would say it was a good saw. Started with less pulls than any other saw I own. Reliable, relatively light and cut "fair". I think it would have done better with a different chain. Sold it on CL for $160. Still had most of the paint on the bar.

the cs370 and 400 are the best 2 saws of the echo line if you do a MM and retune them,, here is a 370 i picked up the other day,, this is some well seasoned oak,, i have had almost every echo there was and to me the 370 and 400 was the best of any of them

Thats is not true i did beat a CS-330 with my Silky Zübat

I have never really ran any Echos besides a cs400 and it was a good small saw. I've never heard much good about the bigger Echos making good worksaws so I've never tried any of them. Stihl and Husky have always worked for me so there's really no reason for me to try the bigger Echos. I would'nt mind having a smaller Echo but I just don't have any need for a smaller saw. That said, I think from my limited experience with them that they are decent saws and worth the coin.

Search "Mastermind meets the Echo cs520", or "...... 500p", or "....... 600p". You can skip all the reading and go straight to the videos. If a picture is worth a thousand words... then a video....? This appears to be another:popcorn: thread.

One thing for sure is that the echo saws are cheaper then husky or stihl a new 500p is at least 100 less then the competition.

Echos' sleazy sales pitch is based on lies, hype, evasiveness and mis-information all targeted to the greenhorn first-chainsaw-buyer who wouldn't know a file from a screwdriver. Conned out of putting their cash towards a proper pro-grade stihl or husky, there's unsuspecting victims getting fleeced by the echo propaganda machine daily. Echos deserve all the contempt that gets thrown at them. And more. Save your money for a real-deal saw not a pretender brand.

Good for Limbing and Small Bucking

My vintage CS 3900 has been a good limbing saw and great for small bucking, so it works well for firewood collecting. Very dependable starter, I have hundreds of hours on it. Whenever it breaks down, I fix it:

However, I never ask it to do more than it was intended to handle. It's a light, under 40cc saw, and that's it. The air filter does seem to require a lot of attention in order to maintain power, but it's easy to clean.

And that must be why when I let Stihl and Husky people use my CS400 or Cs520 on saw jobs they ask where to buy them, if you want slow cutting turds buy yourself a midrange or homeowner Stihl or Husky. Steve

What is not to like? Light, powerful and graceful - Echos have it all.:msp_wink:
