That's because our influx of idiots has waned considerably!!!
Let a new one show up and become a pest and see what happens.

:ices_rofl: I agree Mike! Then there are some of us resident idiots that just keep hanging around, and they can't get rid of. :D There has been many a time someone has posted part#'s or procedure, (usually Mark) and it wasn't anything I was workin on at the time, so didn't write it down. Then about a year later, what do you know..I' wish I wrote that down...LOL Be damed if I'll ask, I'll keep searching till I'm blue in the face.

Gregg,

Hard to tell from a photo but, if the photo shows the actual color of the plug, I would richen it up just a bit.
I like to see a little darker color.

Mike

I also think that the saw running on the lean side but i don't understant. What i mean, the saw has a fat idle, four strockind at WOT.It clean up in the cut when you push it and sometimes i can hear a burble here and there which means rich enough. Why the hell the plug has this color when it should has black.I noticed that both screws,hi and low affect the idle-rev and WOT.Saw is the 2250,everything is new, tested no leaks.P/C seals,gaskets,carb,lines,fuel/air filter, plug. Before i got the new carb,a friend of mine gave me a Walbro WT 662 to try which is a 11.11 mm venturi. The carb i got is the WT 891 which is a 13.5 mm venturi and it is the proper carb for this saw.I remember that with the smaller venturi the saw working much better.I have read from some others that the Hi needle must be more open than the Lo.My saw running fine at 1.3/4 on the lo and 1.1/4 on the hi.Am i missing something?

Man that plug is white. Are you sure that came out of a 2 cycle engine.

Good question,if you read the above you will understant why i had the same question when i took it out.It is from my 2250.It is not whit, the light of the camera make it look like this.It is brown but not dark enough.

I'm not sure what, if anything, you are missing but I can tell you without reservation that you can DEFINITELY over-carb an engine and this could be the case.
If the air isn't moving at sufficient speed (because it is moving through a less restricted venturi) it will not draw fuel correctly.
The saw may be running fine at idle because there are two different circuts (low and high speed) in there.
Just a thought.
Put the smaller carb on and see if the saw runs better and the color comes back to your plug under load.

Mike

Kostas, below is a link to a spark plug chart that may shed some light on your problem. This has made the rounds in other parts of the forum for years. The general rule I try to live by is Carhartt brown color. If you're unfamiliar with that you can look it up on a site that sells their clothing.

Spark Plugs

I would check and make sure it is the correct plug for that saw. If the saw is 4 stroking then I do not have an answer, but I would richen it up even more.

I must say that i noticed this "difference" when i replaced the plug.Saying difference i mean that i can't tune it properly and i see that the saw is heated up a little more with the new plug. The only sure is that the new plug is identical with the old one.I'll try tommorow with the old plug to see if there would be any change.

I'll swap them tomorrow but the problem is that the IPL of the saw showing the WT 891 as the proper carb.I ordered it according to the part number.Anyway,i'll give it a shot.

Kostas, I know it's dark where you are now but, tomorrow take a picture outside in the daylight with no flash. That will give you the best picture from a color perspective.

Holy crap........I have a 'modern' saw!

Today's CL score. Was just listed as a "chainsaw". No model or manufacture name stated. Few details in the ad. Just said it "needed a new gasoline reservoir". The seller told me he got it as part of a batch of tools and stuff from somebody that owed him money. Said it started leaking when he filled it with fuel, and his wife got pissed at him for spilling fuel in the tool shed (yikes). Probably just needs a new duckbill in the tank vent and/or new lines.

Haven't even wiped it off yet. Shot the pics when I got home. Compression feels great, and the saw looks to have almost no use. My guess is that the guy never even tightened (let alone sharpened) the chain. Has a 76DL loop of funky Oregon vanguard chain. No sharkfins, but it has the 'folded over' rakers. Haven't yet decided if I'll replace the 'optimistic' 22" bar with a 16" or 18" bar.......or just keep it on there. Might be handy for reach, as this will be a limbing and larger bucket saw for me. Don't see 'burying' the 22" bar anytime soon...

Looks like the exhaust melted the left side of the cylinder cover for some reason. Not sure why yet. Looks to be around the joint between the muffler halves. Maybe it was leaking there (possibly due to a clogged spark screen I'm guessing). Rim drive sprocket looks almost new. AV buffers and AF look good.

I'm gonna do a MM, fix the tank vent, replace the fuel line, and probably rebuild the carb. These saws have a Walbro HDA correct? Which kit do these carbs take? I'd greatly appreciate if one of you fine folks would send me an IPL and SM for these saws. Been wanting one of these for a while.............ever since I missed out on the TSC run of 'em a few years ago (and all the positive press they got here at that time). I like seeing the Max RPM advisement on the AF cover. Handy...............although I'll still tune it by ear..:msp_thumbup:

Great score! I too missed out on the TSC 330s, but found an almost new one on ebay power head only. I swapped the .325 to 3/8'' and put an 18" Husky Rancher bar on it that I got on sale at the dealer. Also a loop of Stihl RSC. I must say it is a seriously fun and satisfying saw to run. I wish I had bought a few of them when they werenew. I know a few on the main forum didnt like them but at that price these saws are untouchable, the performance and build quality were not even close to comparable in the 50cc class from any competitor.

Yeah, he must not be feeling well. :jester: We hope you get to feeling better soon, Mark! :yoyo:

What ya mean, I feel fine. Got some work done early, got into the beer early, Chris came over and we messed with some saws. Lovly wife made us a good meatloaf dinner? Better day then going to work, I'll tell ya that.

You guys were snoozing, $25.00 52000

Picked up this 5200 for $25.00 off CL (seller's asking price). Apparently it quit running and now does not have spark.

Poulan5200fromAZ3.jpg

Pulled the muffler and the P&C look good. Put the tester on it and pulled it over 5 times and had 170 # + on the gauge.

Think I may do a bit of swapping (i.e. front handlebar) off the one I picked up at Wiggs's GTG about 6 weeks ago.

Poulan5200fromAZ2.jpg

Came with a little 16" GB bar and chain as well as the original manual.

That was a great dinner. Give me a call the next time it's on the table.

Aaron,

Nice saw, it does need a muffler mod bad from the factory and the spark screen is wrapped around the insert like every other Poulan. Mike and I have a couple of ported ones and they are really strong when done right. If you get real ambitious pull the base gasket out, convert to .325 (I run a 8 pin) and 18" bar, really a sweet set-up for that saw.

Mine will run with any 60cc saw out there, the AV on these are great, good power, and a very good air filtration system. Poulan was really on to something with these saws just too bad the vacuum cleaner company decided to basically kill off the good saws from this brand.

Thanks guys! Now I just need a Service Manual. Nice saw Joe. Mine looks to have 3/8" pitch chain. Not sure if it's a "type-1" or "type-2", as all the decals be gone (except for the ones on the clutch cover and starter). Will a splined carb screw driver work on the needles of these saws? The slotted heads on the needles are VERY small once the limiter caps are pulled off. Would be nice to be able to use the splined tool. I'll order one from feebay. Looks like one of the bottom AV buffers is bad afterall. Will order one of them too.
