Got that part done. Once it's it's on it makes perfect sense. I thought the plastic plug was oriented the same way the other one was.

I swear I'm not usually this inept. I can fix things usually.

now i"m stumped with the straight spring on the throttle lock out...

We have all had our moments....;)

Well at least the 330 is worth fixing. The MS290? The Stihl dealers around here dont think so if its anything other then a carb job or a sprocket, they will try to sell you another one if its any thing more. :msp_biggrin:

I kinda agree with the dealers on this one Mark.
I didn't before I started hanging around at Melvin's.
The problem is the $75.00 per hour shop rate they charge.
Most people would have a calf if you charged them 2.5 hours of shop time plus $80.00 in parts for a bearing and seal replacement on a 10 year old MS 290.

$267.50 and for another $100.00 they can have a saw that is shiny and new.

Kind of reminds me of that day I had the chain on backwards and couldn't find out why it was cutting so bad.....:taped: :hmm3grin2orange:

Didn't read the whole thread but it sure sounds like you are getting fnatastic help on the finishing line! Now give all you got for the last lap and get that nice saw up and running again! After that you can give all those 290's a nice :buttkick:

I know how to run a saw and learning more everyday how to fix them.. but that saw needs a DO NOT RESESSITATE sticker on it.
Do you guys ever give up. Let it be an organ donor!!! and get a new one.

Grandpa always said "never argue with an idiot, someone walking by may not be able to tell the difference". Have a nice day.......

What$ can you get for a 290? what $ can you get for a 330? the only reason people started using poulan is because there cheap. now they have to act like there the greatest thing around. THERE NOT!!

I love guys like you. Thats why I sell every 290/270 /029 and 028 I get my hands on. Keeps the economy rolling around this house. Cast any of those Poulans, and especially those really junky Craftsmans in this direction. If you notice in my sig. NONE being used.

Just move on buddy...you obviously have never been around a good poulan and you obviously do not have a clue the 290 is a P.O.S.;)

Your not really proving anything other than how stupid you are. Your ignorance and lack of experience is obvious. One day when you grow up little we will all be here, willing to accept your apology.

Good luck!

It really is false advertising when they call it a Poulan "pro"

You poulan guys have a nice day working on your saws.......when you save up enough money get a Stihl:laugh:

Just curious....... did you ever find that TRICK to start your 066?

it starts and runs great, I figured it out on my own, didnt do a thing to it. I'm glad i didnt listen to most the people on here.

I'm not saying i know everything about fixing a saw, But you guys think if i knew more i would sell my stihl and buy poulans?

I didnt think there was a person out there that could say with a straight face, they liked poulan. I always laugh a little when i see a person that has a "wild thing" listed on there saw list. maybe people like fixing them more than using them.

I love stihl saws. People pay tons of money for them on eBay even if you tell them they are old and completely worn out.

Its all about what you have at home. I have a friend that won't touch a saw other than a stihl..

His loss.

Of course, I love Burger King and hate McDonalds. I guess that's my loss.

grandpa should have told you to use stihl not "pull on" and on and on........

Why is that?...................So we could be held in indentured servitude like you, by a butt raping Stihl dealer everytime we needed a $2.00 fuel line?
Or so we could have the priviledge of paying $38.95 for a $12.00 air filter with the choke built into it? Now THERE'S a stroke of genius!

No, our grandfathers taught us how to make ourselves independent from theives and robber barons, but you go right on working to support your local Stihl dealer.

Unlike the others though, I don't want you to go anywhere. It's worth putting up with your stupidity for your entertainment value.

Mike

I remember the first time I worked on a Stihl and found the choke in the filter. I was surprised and thought this is suppose to be superior engineering over the Poulan made in the USA engineering. Now why would you incorporate a choke into the filter and you know it will have to be replaced on a regular basis as part of maintenance. I am with you Mike just did not make sense.
