Have a new 372xpw with 28" bar on the way. I've seen both .050 and .058 chain width published, which is it? I'd like to maybe get a few extra chains to have on hand when it gets here. Love my Makita DCS 510 w/20" but needed a little more for the 24-30" oaks I've been turning into firewood lately.
Thanks in advance for any info!

It can be either one mine are .058 thats what is popular around here. But yours is most likely coming with .058 its a popular size with Husky like .063 is with Stihl

Look at the stamped in numbers on the end of the bar where it mounts to the saw. it will be stamped with the size. No saw runs one certain size.

It is an OEM Husky B/C, but guess I'll have to wait until it gets here to know for sure....

Choose one or the other. .050 seems to be becoming more popular, but I'd stick with the larger gauge on a 70+ cc saw.

Chains have to match your bar...you need to wait and see what the bar is.

There is no husky "default" it is a regional thing and you can get husky OEM branded bars in either

Choose a chain size that is readily available in you area. This varies by region. Ive been running .050 3/8 on an 046 along with a billion others. There's negligble strength difference between .050 & .058. Run what's available

The Husky website shows it as .058, but then some of the online sellers show it as .050, hence the confusion. Doesn't really matter to me which it comes with, just would be nice to know in advance....
I didn't buy any extra chains from the vendor of the saw as their website didn't make it easy to do so, in fact couldn't even find chains on it.

I'm already a little disappointed in them as I am two days shipping time from them, ordered it over the weekend, and really wanted the saw before the next weekend as I have a fri-mon off planned to cut wood at my camp 130 miles away...BUT then the vendor says it won't ship until Thurs as they have to order the bar and chain, even though the whole package is shown as in stock.
Since when does "in stock" mean they don't really have it but will get it...???

Are you saying that you bought a 372 online? Husqvarna doesn’t allow their dealers to sell pro saws online, in store only purchases.

The only saws I see for sale online are chinese knockoffs that look very much like a husky.

As others have suggested, if you don’t have the bar part number you’ll have to wait till you receive the bar to find out what gauge is required.

When i bought my first Husky i was given a choice of gauge, .050 or .058, the dealer took the time to educate me and give me some personal opinions. He told me our area was .050 territory, he also mentioned specials always favored .050 chains, again in our area. Well several years into it he was right, not only for local availability but the stuff i find online also. I have found great deals on .050 bars and chains in areas from coast to coast. Now when i walk into a stihl shop there is plenty of .063 chain, but they also have the .050 in 3/8ths 72DL and 84DL. Never have seen a .058 chain packaged on a shelf. So at this stage of the game, one bar one chain, of unknown gauge, you can still investigate what is popular in your area, always keeping in mind that you can and will find almost anything online if your willing to pay shipping. I bet i have no less than 60 loops of chain .325 and 3/8ths combined. Probably 50 loops have came via a special somewhere, local or online. Just my take.

Thats why i changed over to .050 i use Stihl chain and its hard to find .058 Stihl chain.

0.050 have a tendency to "go warm" if used in high tempo on saws
with sufficient power.

I use 0.050 3/8 on smaller saws like 346xp or possibly 357xp but
always at least 0.058 3/8 on bigger ones ... . They also last better
... . Not that I am a saw-Einstein though :)

Can I ask where you found an XPW? I thought they haven't been in production for quite some time

You are likely thinking of the 75cc ones, but xpw by itself doesn't refer to that version. There were 71cc xpws both before and after that version was made.
