I "need" another saw like a hole in the head. Past year I got rid of 4. Down to 2. New 5105 and a 020avs. I WANT another Dolmar or Sachs/Dolmar or Makita. I am hooked. Wife will shoot me, then leave me, then divorce me, then shoot me again! So how do I go about getting one?:msp_confused: :msp_scared::laugh: Fixer-upper okay. Doesnt need to be big. 30-40cc?

Really, down to two saws and your worried the wife might get mad at buying another?

Hide the ammo and go buy 3 or 4 more. I would.

After reading through this thread for the last week I felt I should submit a post.
I bought my 112 new in '78 and used it for building demolition and site clearing for a few years before moving on to other things. I kept the Dolmar, I always liked that saw, nice to use, nicely balanced and never let me down, I have to admit it wasn't looked after very well but it never let me. It seems like every ten years I'd get it going then put it back in the shed for another 10 years. Any way this time around I'm making a bit more of an effort.
I replaced the tank fuel line, removed and replaced the cylinder cleaning up the bit of carbon build up and satisfying myself the piston and cylinder are in good order.
I then bought a donor 112 and from the donor replaced the aluminium handle with a pretty red one, also ex the donor a chain brake guard, one isolation mount, a 45cm roller tipped bar, bar cover and a new sprocket and bearing which came with it but never fitted. The donor also came with a new in box Mako piston and ring, it was a trade in they intended to get going but never got around to it.
I did pretty well out of the donor but still need a couple of chain guards if anyone can help.
Overall i'm very happy my 112 is getting back into working order

I'm having trouble tuning the carby I've pulled the carby down and blown it out a couple of times, I'm thinking a diaphragm and gasket kit may be in required, any suggestions.

I would like to get the donor going with the new piston, the cylinder looks pretty bad but maybe it's not as bad as it looks I've attached a pic what do people think can it be saved.
Any way that's my little story to date I've learn't a lot from this thread, thanks everyone.View attachment 278386View attachment 278387

Your 112 is past due for a carb rebuild, a thorough cleaning and new carb kit will make a lot of difference in how it starts and runs. Carb kits are cheap and easy to find , yours likely has the Tillotson HK carb but there were other carbs used in them also. You need to check which model carb you have before ordering a kit.
That cylinder should clean up nicely, looks like a little aluminum transfer that will come off with acid and a bit of sanding. Those fine streaks running the length of the bore won`t hurt anything as long as you can`t catch a fingernail on them, they look to be very superfichal looking at the picts.
Good luck with rebuilding it, they are very good saws, I have worked on them since 1985 and most of the ones I have been involved with are still running fine.

Man... I go away for a day or two and this thread blows up a couple pages! Usually it sits pretty dormant... Where to start???

The I.D. plate has the serial number, but on the low use 6800 I have it is just a sticker on the "footpad" with serial# and a bar code and a Hamberg Germany address.
I checked the other 2 I have and there is no plate (and not a legable sticker). The 120si/116si had plates, guess they changed that with the Makita take-over.

Anywho,
dealing in ID plates is looked upon with disdain by many.
I know it's 'just a saw", but not Kosher any way you slice it.
Yea, so we established that the stickers came in 95/96 when epa needed to scan the bar codes. I'll have to check my 6800i's and see which type they are. I have a feeling that my Makita is a sticker/decal, and my Dolmar is a ID plate.

As far as dealing in "black-market" ID tags... sorry but that's kinda dumb... On a saw of this age and with as many times I've mixed and matched parts back and fourth to make a saw...? Don't get me wrong I understand the concept and would agree with it when you're wanting to identify a new $1000+ saw that was stolen, but once saws come of a certain age and/or lower used value it seem like some of the rules can be ignored :msp_ohmy: Yea, i said it... :msp_tongue:

Besides that i am probably one of a very few, that tries to check the serial numbers against reported MIA saws... Even some of the parts saws I have doubly checked if I don't know where or who they are coming from. And yes I actually ran into a couple that were hot, so I fixed them, and returned them to the original owner...

Yes it specs it out as the Orange parts in the IPL.
That's kinda cool that there is Orange Makita's... Maybe 1990/1991 vintage during the first year of take over when makita wanted their names on stuff but didn't have Dolmar making blue saws yet?????

anyone know what model this saw is? looking at acres looks like it could be a 113 (51cc), 116si (60cc), or a 120super (68cc). no model marking to be found. saw it in a pawn shop; they asking $99.

Sorry to bust your bawls,

but it's kinda like "being a little pregnant"

Ask some guy who bought a 67 ssduece, and finds out it was a chevy II.

I aint anal at all, but that **** is so wrong in so many ways.

I'm thinking that looks to be a PS-6000i or PS-6800i.

yup,

46mm 6000, 49mm 6800.

yall reckon it'd be worth $99? i pulled it over and it felt good but don't know when's the last time it had some mix in the barrel. could just be dry. didn't do any checking, removing the muff, or playing with the brake so can't report on any of that. but, ?

Can anyone offer advice on removing the fan/flywheel on my 112. I removed the starter mechanism expecting to find a couple of threaded holes in the fan to taken a puller but no holes, I suppose a three legged puller is needed, I thought I should check here first.
I want to fit new crankshaft seals before putting it to work and am intending to fit Viton seals available locally and also check out the points while I have access, any tips on doing this appreciated.
Cheers

Puller works OK. I usually give them a couple of smacks with a brass hammer. Haven't killed a flywheel yet.:msp_biggrin:
