In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), eitheraccidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]

Just because someone doesn't always agree with what everyone else is saying or thinking, doesn't make him or her a troll.

Some times, opinions other than your own, will in-fact elicit a response, be it good or bad. Doesn't always make it right or wrong.....just different.

Facts always clear up any issue. Speculation and/or conjecture just muddy things up.

I'd have to run it, just to see if it runs. Even 064's were made to be "run". Nothing like the sound of a "new" saw being fired to life for the first time, especially one that growls like 064's growl! Nice score Brad! BTW, I'd hold out for a new metal tag too. Didn't even know they had plastic ones. An analogy can be made that it would be like leaving AM emblems on a collectible old classic car that was perfect in every other way.

I ask my Stihl dealer this week, if anyone has a metal plate in stock that's him! He is Stihl dealer since 1953 and has long been the only supplier of the whole east of France!

Thanks guys. I'm not even going to get into the metal tag debate. Metal tags are what I want, and metals are what it'll have...as soon as I can find one for the cylinder cover. I already have one for the recoil, thanks to Mike. Thanks Mike:clap:
you are more of a collector, than a user, and you have an outstanding collection that anyone here would be lucky to have. that saw would look great with all its memrobilia beside the others you have. once you fuel/run it, it is no longer new. if you have another 064, keep it and run it. someday, someone will offer you a chunck of cash for this saw, and you may or may not sell it? saws are made to be run, but this saw is the exception, and it is too nice to get dirty.

As I said, I will ask my dealer, but I saw one that looks good. A little dusty, but the plate must be in good condition, if it was scratched we would not see as well the writing(i have one, i know what i'm talking about).

Maybe you should write to the seller to send you a picture of the plate cleaned?
if you are not careful cleaning will possibly remove some of black! i cleaned 056 mag plate and the roman numeral 2 came off

Yea, I put an 034 top cover in some Mean Green diluted with water. All the black came off. That Mean Green is really mean.

I would not consider the mans work bench as a home owners bench. He is a mechanic and he owns his own garage.

Great! I have those same qualifications myself, but would never try a pass a "bucket of bolts" off as a NOS factory unit. I've built some custom units for myself and others, but they're only special to those directly involved. The point of my comments has been that in no way do plastic tags detract from brads saw, it's special in its own right.

Why would it matter where it was put together as long as it was done correctly

If it was assembled by the factory that designed and built it, you can pretty much assume that it was done right.

If it was assembled somewhere else, by anyone else, you'll never know for sure.

Granted.....it's a very nice saw, BUT, it's not a NOS saw.

U just have to have trust as u do in other things example a surgeon etc

Brad, Ignore the haters. It is clear that their comments are based out of jealousy. If they try to deny or argue that statement, it only further proves and validates the statement made. I for one am jealous that you have it and I dont, but Im not going to try to insult you or the saw to make myself feel better. Some folks just like to argue and cause SH!T.

The fact that this is a chainsaw forum and we are all supposed to have our "love for saws" in common, instead some want to get hung up on labeling the saw either NOS/ Bucket Saw, is quite childish. The only valid issue to argue about here is rather or not Brad should fuel it up (and run it in his garage like Dano) or keep it unfueled/virgin. I vote Virgin given the choice.:ices_rofl:

I think Brad has the necessary knowledge to see if the saw is well built or not. This saw is great, by the way it is for me one of the best saws ever made!

I don't really give a crap about the NOS thing and I made no comment about that whatsoever. You are the one that said the saw was built on a home owners work bench. I just pointed out that the man is no ordinary home owner.
