The saw we are discussing endlessly, is a very nice saw.

But, it has no legitimacy. It was built by an individual, has no serial number (and we all know by now, how important that is), and doesn't have a history, such as a legit build date or production lot code.

I suppose that Brad can stamp a serial # on his own, but how will he come about that number? Make one up? It won't mean anything to anyone knowing of how it came to be.

It is what it is. It was put together by parts, gathered here and there over time. It is a bastard saw, but a very nice bastard saw.

Of course it's OK with plastic tags. But, that's not what I want. The 064 was NEVER sold with plastic tags. I want the saw to be as original as possible. It matters not what XSkier or anyone else thinks. To insist that this saw should have plastic tags is like insisting a model T should have modern tires on it. You don't even make logical sense. Move along now.

I have a metal tag on mine but it's not pristine by no means. I'll mess with it a little and see if it can be cleaned up.

brad ,are those dawgs nos? in the brochure pic they look like they turn up on the bottom spikes, yours look to go straight out.super nice so no matter what.

As the guy who built the saw I take offense to it being called a "Bastard" lol

We can all agree to disagree on the tags but I'm with Brad on this one, They were never sold originally with plastic tags so it should have metal ones. If I could have found them, they would already be on there.

I don't claim to be the best mechanic in the world, far from it actually but I will assure there was much care taken in the assembly of this saw. Much more so I would think than any assembly line worker would have.

She will be missed. However, that little Jred is making the Stihls nervous...It's a freakin hoot to run.

Yo Brad, my 064 I picked up here is a older "Survivor" model with a little more wear (but stihl plenty clean) what bar do you think looks best on these Stihls? Im not interested in a Stihl bar so..... That size saw I usually run 24''. Im thinking I want to put a Cannon Super Bar on it, but maybe I should consider something like a Sugi-light etc to compliment the 064s power to weight ratio?
