Beautiful saw, great condition, looking forward to seeing it at GTG. I don't think that SN is a 10 mm, but that does not mean it will not run great. I've seen people state their 12 mm ran just as strong as a 10. It is a nice looking saw, enjoy!

Clean, a little paint, a muff mod and sporting an 18" bar. It fired up after a few pulls and sounded nice.
It looks too clean, I'm going to have to get some dirt on it a the GTG!
Dual port muffler, big dual dog kit, and it looks like you can install the small aluminum skid plate straight down from where the wrap handle bolts to on the PTO side of the saw.

Some people try to paint them and be shady about the actual condition.
Sweet saw.. I'm jealous. I missed on 2 nice 440's last week. I waited to long and they sold right under my nose.

I missed one last week on 2 power heads that needed minor work, an 044 and a 440, but the 044 was not a 10 mm. This one is a 10 mm, and is complete, and even wears a like new 24" bar. Last week I hesitated on accepting a counter offer, and someone else went for it.

He means earlier than 129******. The one I just bid on is 120******.
They often leave off the first digit because it reflects the country of origin (1-Germany; 2-US). The SN is always 9 digits.

Mine starts with 131 and has 6 more digits after that, so that would make it a 12mm?
You sure as heck don't need us to validate ur saw. I dig it man.

Yes. Back in the day we considered the 12mm the better saws. Then Gasoline Gary went and posted that his 10mm ran better and started a craze. I doubt that you could tell the difference, unless you use one on a logging deck all day like he does.

Actually you can tell the difference,,,,,
The earlier 10MM saws had more aggressive port timing numbers and a smaller combustion chamber. However, the smaller 10MM wrist pin saws were prone to small end rod failure hence the 12mm era came into play,,, the early 12mm 044's still had the good numbers but due to our good friends @ EPA,,, well you know.... Sheesh!!!!
I have one good 10MM pre-decomp Cylinder left that will go right on a 12MM piston!!!! Wooo Hoooo!!!!
So Darth, let's get to the important stuff, How does your saw run? That is all that matters. (I wrote this but I guess I did not post it)
I am very impressed with the way my 10 mm saw runs, and have never had a problem with it. I agree that the difference in performance was likely due to the many changes in cylinder that occurred, and perhaps also the flywheel. While the 12 mm may be stronger, there are a lot of 10s out there that have never failed.

Mustangmike, I've been told the 10's have slanted cylinder fins. If so, is that true for all 10's and not 12's? I'm in the market for a clean 044/10mm.
