ummm, i'm into horsepower and engines.

i like things that go VRRROOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!

do i need an 800cc mod snowmobile at 169 ponies before i het the nos??? nope, it doesn't feed my kids.
but on deep powder days i can go have fun and play on the hills where the little guys are stuck in the parking lots.

so if a factory 600 can make 120 horsepower, and we all decided that 6 horsepower was plenty for most saw uses, we could all run 30cc saws.

and I'm guessing most of you wouldn't mind owning a 30cc factory saw with 6 horsepower.

as another example, from the net, it seems like a 100cc bike engine is the preferred choice for competition over saw motors. Bikes are pretty wide powerband. it sure seems to me you could improve a bike engine a BUNCH for saw usage.

moped motors (50cc) would be nice for chainsaws, expect they weight too much... best ive seen is aroud 15-17hp from 50cc...

Most moped 50 cc motors are falling between 3 and 7 hp, which considering the pipe puts them very much in line with saws as far as output. Sure some race built 50 cc motors have passed 15 hp, but that is a far cry from an off the shelf motor.

I do not know

I do not know but I'll have a look are the race motors using the cast iron cylinders? I see advantages with iron cylinder and iron/aluminum 2 piece pistons but not with piston porting

6-7hp is standard for de-restricted newer mopeds... ~10hp for tuned and that 15-17hp is for heavily ported and tuned mopeds...

Do you have some links?

I am interested in what they are doing I always loved mopeds and that little Honda with no pedals can't remeber the model

Honda monkey i assume... had one of those myself...

It was different than that

I seem to recall it was Passport which later was used for the name of a car or minivan

The sand takes a little bit to warm up works better then the air in the block.
Plus methanol runs pretty cool.(temp wise) Anyways I think it would be cool if my ms-310 had 15 HP or my 9010 have 30 hp, we could cut some stuff.

I see

Good idea I had never heard of that but the theory makes good sense for a drag car short run. Yah alky burns pretty cool and can introduce all kinds of complications for life. I am still toying with the idea of an all bio saw. The biggest challenge is lighting it off in the cold. Alky HATES to vaporize if it is going to be cold the next day
