everytime i read your 362 praising i just have a feeling it has something to do with something mustang mike said in the past. there must be something i missed LOL
It's a sad sordid affair...

As a founding member of the firewood hoarders forum I was exposed often to the ported saw polishers. The PSP's at FHC have a special affinity for the ms362c-m. I would often here of the exploits of some middle aged fat guy that would buy a 362, use it for like two tanks of gas and proclaim it be the best ever -- and then send it off for port work?!?

Much like @MustangMike and his support of a 10mm oh44 with a hd2 filter/dual port muffler (chain^2) I felt the need to be part of a cause. I knew what I had to do...spread the word to all the chainsaw forums. The ms 362c-m is awesome!!!!

Sadly my world began to crumble when a video was posted of a stock solo 665 on its first tank of gas handily beating a ported ms362c-m. I doubled down my efforts to spread the Word of the FHC PSP's. But the tide turned against me. I was exiled from FHC and AS. Threads were deleted. Mods at FHC took over my account and posted under my name...

Forced to do my calling from the shadows of foreign proxies I have returned in triumph.

LMFAO mike! That's a post I'd like more then once if I could. Repped bud! These PSP's you speak of. They over rate nearly all ported saws? After 1 tank? Awesome! I know why the 362 is awesome now so I can be in the loop.

I did look at the 362 I'm just worried I won't be impressed with it just like I wasn't impressed with the 311

Simply AWESOME!! ,I may have shed a tear reading it ,Bravo my friend

362 is gutless. may be the most disappointing saw I have ever ran. If it has to be a 60cc saw... consider this- http://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/262xp-day.277547/. There are at least 3 of them avail in the Trading Post right now. If it has to be new- consider the 562xp. Don't limit yourself to Stihl if you want a 461 sized saw. The Dolmar 7910 has more cojones and can be acquired at a significant savings. Basically for the same cost as a 562xp depending on dealer.

Doesn't even take a whole tank. Piss rev'ing and cookie cutting vids is all it takes.

You've got to keep in mind most PSP's do very little actual cutting with their saws.

Ive spread the gospel locally to my fellow sawing associates.

The ms 362c is awesome.

When comparing the 362 C to the 461 you are comparing two saws in different categories.

You don't have to worry about M-Tronic, it has been very reliable for most people. The 362 is a very smooth fast cutting saw (max HP from factory at 10,000 RMP, the highest of any factory saw I know of). Having spring AV and M-Tronic is a plus.

That said, in hardwood over 16-18", you will prefer the increased power of a larger saw, and the 461s gets excellent reviews.

In answer to your question, it depends on your cutting needs.

The 461 is a good deal more powerful, but is also a good deal heavier. For bucking larger wood, the 461 is superior. For limbing and general firewood cutting, you may be happier with 362. You will be able to use it much longer before it wears you out.

Hope this is helpful. I see a lot of posters who think they are humerus.

Good luck with your decision.

Mike ive cut 20" logs all day with a 50cc saw and never for a moment thought i needed a bigger saw.

A 461 is kinda overkill for the wood you mentioned dood.

A 362 is an awesome firewood saw , its not much of a limbing saw in my humble opinion...theres better options.
