It wouldn't hurt the discussion around here at all.

I like hearing folk's testimony better than "Cause Brad says so"...

I was only doing it as a experiment. I know the 3/8 L.P. will cut faster with less power. It just makes no sense how people say the 241 won't run an 18" bar,but a 251 will run a 18" .325. Some things make no sense. I thinking because Still reccomends 12 to 16 for the 241 everyone thinks that's all it can do. They don't want to say it can turn an 18 because they don't want it stepping on the toes of the 261.

I don't recall anyone saying that it WOULDN'T pull an 18" bar. Just that that's not really the point.

You should be putting a 6 tooth 3/8 lp chain and bar on the 251, it will cut faster. Steve
i don't remember what sprocket is on my ms 250(CRS) but i know it's the 3/8 lp. my J-Red 2240(just a cc or 2 smaller than the 241) has a .325 chain on it and when its worn out going to 3/8 lp. it's a dog with the .325.

Have you personally tested this assertion?

Has anyone here done this

Yes I have on a 43cc .went from a 7 tooth .325 to a 7 tooth 3/8 lp and it cut about the same. Then to a 6 tooth 3/8 lp , big improvement in cutting speed in bigger wood. I put .325 nk on a couple of 45cc saws with real good results also. Steve
