lol ok, I'm goin back to the gun forum where I might know a little about.
I don't know I'm not a saw tech. Just first hand experience running a 241 and 250 with pico chain beside my 250 with .325. They just walk away from the saw running .325. All chains filed by Steve who has more years filing then iv been alive. Why is that? Is it because of the 6 tooth sprocket?
thanks James but i'm not that old.I don't know I'm not a saw tech. Just first hand experience running a 241 and 250 with pico chain beside my 250 with .325. They just walk away from the saw running .325. All chains filed by Steve who has more years filing then iv been alive.
Who's Brad?So your "issues" are in other areas, and have nothing to do with the discussion about which chain/sprocket system cuts better. Which is what this thread is about>
At least we have evolved slightly from "Because Brad says so"..........
I was only doing it as a experiment. I know the 3/8 L.P. will cut faster with less power. It just makes no sense how people say the 241 won't run an 18" bar,but a 251 will run a 18" .325. Some things make no sense. I thinking because Still reccomends 12 to 16 for the 241 everyone thinks that's all it can do. They don't want to say it can turn an 18 because they don't want it stepping on the toes of the 261.
So straight up, the .325 and 3/8 lo/pro cuts about the same, but it cuts faster when you switch to a 6 tooth sprocket?
Also you said it cuts great with a .325 nk{narro kerf?}, so if he goes to a narrow kerf chain, he is OK too?
Lotsa different variables here....
I tend to agree with Sawtroll that Stihl makes recommendations based on expected performance by "typical buyers". I wonder if the oiler is factored in as well when a manufacturer suggests bar lengths.
