Found one for sale...says it runs alright, cones with a couple well used bars but the saw looks clean. I know its 57cc...built in the 90s but ive never had hands on one.

If its a solid saw are they worth 200 bucks?

I had a 257. It was a great saw. Its a type of hybrid. Some parts 254 some 262. The thing ran forever. The open port cylinder lacks the torque though. I paid 200.00 for mine and made a few thousand dollars with it before it was stolen. The main parts are made of two legendary saws minus the cylinder. The cylinder is even made by mahle a top rate company

For a running 257 for $200 unmolested I’d jump on it. If I didn’t have two already. There’s mention here of installing a 262 cylinder on it if you search it. Down the road future plan Incase it craps out.

To me any running husky is worth $200. Even a non running one if it’s a popular model? It’s worth fixing.

I’m not the one buying saws. There priced too high anyway. Are you trying to make a sale here your cheaper than the $200/257? I get it.

:wtf: I think $200 for that running 257 saw is a good deal if it’s unmolested. I think I paid that for one of my 346xp’s. I was browsing eBay and was checking the husky prices. Nothing is cheap or a deal to flip anymore. Times are tough even huztl prices are going up.

For me, not having any previous affiliation with the 257- the is $200 too much question is pretty easy.
What do 357's go for in your neck of the woods? If they sell for $200-$250 in good condition, then the 257 is not looking so sweet with its decade older technology.
US$200 is around $330 of ours and I would certainly not drop that on a mid range saw unless I knew the saw, knew the owner (or preferably both) and was sure I was not just about to be ripped by an online shark.
But like I say, I have no past love affair with the 257- if it were red and had 2094 stickers on it........ whole other ball game, but not orange and 57cc.

The 357’s are priced much higher here, the 359/346’s are priced higher too.

Here, Finding anything that isnt a wild thing or 100 series husky...or black handle stihl is rare...
